I can install boot.elf(renamed by lowercase characters from launch.elf) to hd (mean to "___boot")
I can run renamed launch.elf but I can't see anything in hard drive So I can't run patched hdadvance.elf.
When I boot from MC with same launch.elf I can see everything.......
When I try boot rename hdadvance.elf to boot.elf Dev2 run it successful!
    Question is here:Why I can't see anything when I use dev2 with launch.elf???

okay, call me crazy, but how to do you access the __boot partition to upload the file? I tried to mount it (SITE MNT /pfs/0 hdd:__boot) in flashFXP and it won't mount, and using the dev2I installer refuses to copy the elf file to the partition. Anyone help?

i used launchELF 3.41 to copy the boot.elf from my usbpendrive to the _boot dir.
I also made an atempt to mount the _boot partition without any luck.

The only result I get from DEV2I.ELF is the message "Checking HDD..." on a white screen with the Matrix logo at its top. That message stays on screen forever, without any changes, regardless of how long I wait (several hours!). The lockup seems independent of the media used for the ELF, after trying both USB drive and MC, as well as CD-R. I can only guess at the reason for this failure, and my best guess is that the program can't stand real 48-bit LBA partitions, in much the same way that Sony HDD utilities can't run properly when any partitions go beyond the 128GB limit (whereas my 200GB drive is nearly full).

If anyone else has tested this with large drives, having used more than 128GB, I'm very interested to hear your results. If everyone with a large drive gets the same result, then the matrix team needs to fix this ASAP. After all, proper homebrews like LaunchELF work equally well regardless of the disk size, so the same functionality can and should be added to the matrix firmware too.

    Best regards: dlanor

Just out of pure innocent curiosity, do you care to explain why?
The DMS4 has had dev2 for at least a year and a half now. All you do on your Matrix, I've been doing on my DMS4 for so long before it's not even funny.
Besides, to this day the DMS4 is still way more advanced than any other mods. You can bash the DMS team all you want but that is a fact.

I have now successfully installed (and used) LaunchELF v3.41 as main Dev2 application on my (nearly full) 200GB HDD, by using a patched version of DEV2I.ELF . The patch merely consists of replacing the 28-bit LBA version of ATAD.IRX with the corresponding 48-bit LBA version (same as used by hdlpatch). The patched DEV2I.ELF is enclosed in the attached ZIP. To use it, replace the old DEV2I.ELF with this one, rename it or edit SYSTEM.CNF to get matching ELF names, then burn and boot CD-R as usual.

NB: There are no further docs enclosed. If you don't know what this is and how to use it, well, then it simply isn't something you should mess with ! OK ?

I use HDLODER.ELF as the BOOT file to install by DEV2(Dev2Installv10 patched for 48-bit LBA
) and all the process is ok.
When I press L1 to boot from HDD with this HDL the menu to selectwhich to play is show but it didn't works when I choose the Game to play.
    Only the black screen isshow.
Do any boday knows how to salve it?

HDLoader.ELF has problems with many launchers, so I am not surprised that it has a problem with this new Dev2 launcher.

The normal solution is to use a better launcher as the main boot, which eliminates the problem. I use LaunchELF v3.41 myself, and with this launching HDL there is no problem running the HDL-installed games.

Wish I knew this yesterday before I crashed my 160 filled with lots of games and music. Oh well, Just a curse to reimage them all to the drive. Thanks a lot TMT! After I got it all setup with WinHIP 1.7.2 it seemed to be slicker, and I didn't need that extra 256MB partition for ELF files, cause I can use the __boot partition now (wish I could make my MP3 partition though)
