MAJOR NEWS! PS3 Launch Deflated!!!
The uproar is already in full swing across the net but, in case you haven't already heard, Sony has delayed the PS3's launch in all PAL territories (Europe, Russia, Middle East, Africa and Australia) until March due to major problems producing a key component in the Blu-ray disc laser.
While the launch will still proceed as scheduled in the U.S. and Japan, Sony has also now backed off it's claim of 2 million consoles for launch day, promising only 400,000 for the entire North American region and a truly pathetic 100,000 for Japan! They plan to have an installed base of only 2 million consoles WORLD-WIDE by the end of the year. For comparison, Microsoft's global launch was 1.5 million units, and there were still massive shortages. :wow:
