The maximus is the same as the minimus and the teensy 1.0, the only real difference is the led file that are used to compile them to get them working properly. You can use either one, you just won't get the proper light sequence

euhh.. I don't think you know what you're talking about... PSFreedom is using PL3 since the day I created PL3 (3 weeks ago).. and PSFreedom doesn't use port1_config_descriptor.bin... my branch of PSGroove also uses PL3, so I don't think there's anything you need to port..
