KaKaRoTo Downgrades v3.55 PS3 Console to v3.41

Although we all know 90% of us want it for back up launchers. Most people won't even care if we can't use back up launchers.


Although I am curios. If I downgrade. Is it possible the hackers can do something to prevent people from using a back up launcher? or are they just not putting one in?

Nah I think PSGROOVE Will continue. But will give us news regarding Homebrew and hacks e.g. Custom Firmware etc. Plus I hope this site stays.... I cannot access PS3News at work so I hope this site stays up!

For those that still don't understand what this means for the end user is:

1. It will allow you to access the PSN Store on firmware 3.55 and play original games
2. You can downgrade back to firware 3.41 and play backups using your dongle.
3. Those individuals that upgraded to 3.55 and wish they had not are now able to downgrade the console to firmware 3.41.

I seriously hope a back up launcher is made soon. It is driving me crazy waiting.

They cant prevent it really, but there not really going to the effort of making it easy.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the love the work done by KaKaRoTo on the PS3, however is a downgrade where the scene should be heading? We have custom firmware on 3.55 now - so now it needs modifications to run backup managers whilst signed - or a kernel exploit to run unsigned code (dongleless) instead of everyone dropping back to a firmware with no PSN. I know 3.55 is less likely to be updated by Sony as quick (therefore removing PSN) by not having backup managers on 3.55 but with the keys surely it wouldn't matter and it would only be a small fraction of the time before a new custom firmware is released that would allow PSN again.

well this might be intresting to some ppl,
the other day i downgraded from 3.50 to 3.41, using the usual method...
i did LOSE ALL THE DATA, inside the drive game saves game installed data and everything else...i tryed backing up be4 i attempted this,
but the backup utility start backing up, then abt 25% in...it says it cant connect to the usb device anymore...
ofc im using a 500gb WD fat32 external drive with alot of free space ... but still it didnt work out.... so i jstu said screw it and downgraded anywayz, saying that there is a possibility i wont lose the data ... (phat models i mean)...
so abt the system it self it was a CECHH phat model with 40gb internal on a FW 3.50, it was a Korean ps3... and it still got formatted , a whole wipe out ....
it would be interesting to see wht u ppl got to say abt this... im aware that even that model got the 256 NAND in it, but it still got formatted....so any ideas abt that ? =]

But This is useless because I want emulators and stuff but don't want to buy a jailbreak dongle.. Is it possible to jailbreak ps3 3.41 using a regular flash drive?
