    How do you know?

You know, here in Portugal we have an expression that represents exactly those kinds of numbers that show up from nowhere. We call it "contas de merceeiro", which roughly translates to "grocery math".

Bottom line, don't go throwing random numbers into thin air.

This is an age old battle that $ony has simple gotta understand they will not win. I am almost 40 years old and have been hacking , pirating, and modding since the freaking snes. In those years I have purchased every system probably at least twice. Some more than that. I have purchased my fair share of game and utilities from the various stores and online store. I have purchased more dlc that I woul probably like to admit. More accessories than I can probably fit in one room. So I a am sick of these holier than thow people bitching about how piracy, modding and hacking takes money from the companies. These are the same folks that are willingly copying their friends cd's, downloading movies, breaking the speed limit, smoking weed, taking drugs etc. Bottom line is that once I pay my money for some hardware then damn it it's mine to do as I please. Just imagine if computer companies came after people for modding pc's. Maybe if Microsoft came after people for using windows products to download pirated software. It's such crap it's sick. Home brew is real and there is nothing better than having a new system and playing mame on it or something. Making it do something it was not suppose to do. If $ony wants to stop that then guess what, they will fail. You can't beat the hackers and pirates. We are always several steps ahead of these morons that make the stuff. This kind of actions makes you want to just buy their stuff buy no games and pirate the hell out of it just because. $ony can suck one and so can you $ony fanboys that side with them.

I'm not sure whether what's going on here is:

    - Tretton cynically ignoring the actual homebrew scene and talking about tools useful for licensed small/"indie" developers, e.g. PhyreEngine

    - Tretton being clueless about the struggles of the homebrew scene and actually believing that Sony already provides something for it a la XNA Game Studio

It would be interesting if it's the latter, but if the revelation were to spur some kind of action I wouldn't expect it to be any better than releasing something like XNA Game Studio (maybe for free as a middle finger to MS).

In case my comment on the site doesn't pass through mod review for w/e reason I'll post my response to the article here XD:

"Sony C.E.O. Lies through his Teeth"

"Now we feel our systems are more secure that they have ever been." Yet they were hacked as recently as a week ago.

"We have over 90 percent of our customers back right now" ... right...

"No, there’s a real misnomer there, we embrace independent game development; if you call that hacking, then we embrace that. We give people tools that let them create new experiences." No you don't. They don't exist. That's why we have to constantly hack the system. All because one moronic C.E.O. doesn't see the benefit in letting indie companies develop for free as most of them don't have $10k.

"We have assigned a new position of chief information security officer." And since then, the attacks have continued XD

"I’m not a security expert so I have other people working on this." You're the C.E.O. of a company that was just hacked multiple times and you're telling us you didn't sit in on the meetings about how you're going to stop future attacks? Right...

"So who is your biggest competitor?" Sony's own incompetence. Sony's immoral attack on innocent developers. Sony's blatantly illegal removal of "tools that let them create new experiences."
