Part of the problem is that the message is ridiculously muddled. It goes from "boycott Sony" to "as a customer, you want homebrew games" (wait; I thought I was boycotting them, and thus not a customer?). The petition message itself goes from requesting "a free SDK and a free method of running and distributing non-commercial applications that can run without restrictions" to lauding the App Store and Xbox Live Indie Games, both of which are non-free and fairly restrictive.

Tbh, petition + donation are all but waste of money. I'm sure that ECC is controlled by those big corporations. Kinda giving you the impression that you can change something -- fight for your right and such but at the end, IMO, all the money you're donating goes directly to those big corps pocket.

This doesn't even make sense. Basically, they're saying "We can't, because we're not gonna."
*facepalm*

I think what they're trying to say is closer to:
[The company's] policy on this issue has not changed. [The support staff is] therefore not in a position to fulfil your request.
I wouldn't be surprised if the people reading those emails aren't even Sony employees.
