i want to start finding the dodgy sourcecode in 3.41 that allowed the exploit to work and implement it in 3.5+

why do one need to make exploit in 3.5+ if one can make a backdoor there and no usb dongle needed ?

Holy crap, i been playing Splatterhouse these past couple days (Xbox360) and not been paying attention to the scene and when I do come back to it, I see a bunch of keys and someone saying the PS3 could have custom firmware in like 14 days or so? I know that's not the "official" release date but it is a good estimate! VERY nice way to ring in the new years! Thanks to all the people that made this happen, thanks to GeoHot for his work on PS3 and iPhone (I use BlackRa1n on my iPhone for jailbreak…couldn't be easier), thanks to the 27c3 for their work and FailOverfl0w team. By the way…people saying Sony failed…don't look it as they failed…look at it as them making a bad-ass console for us to play with in ways they didn't' intend! Apple never intended the iPhone to be a gaming device, but once it was out as to how well it could handle it, they were all for it! So, Sony needs to realize their system is great for emulation and home-brew and just accept it!!

Actually I am a pretty skilled coder just don't code anything to do with the ps3 usually my Unix network or PHP or c++ for my windows progs

If you don´t understand the "all of the slide at the 27c3 convention" you´ll never do anything with the fw...

The GT5 joke is gone.

I wasn't trying to offend you dude, you probably do have plenty of PHP/C++ skills, but unless those skills can be extended to low-level coding (ASM and others) not to mention possessing intimate knowledge of the security and software structure of the PS3, then I honestly doubt there's much you could do. Like you said; you didn't fully understand the hack conference slides... and that was relatively simplified stuff - with a lot of hand-holding - compared to the true meat of the project (from what I can gather)

Shit.. I could be wrong and you could end up being the person to bring the next PS3 milestone breakthrough

I started learning asm codeing but never needed to carry on wish I had now I hang my head in shame and why the hell would I want ntfs I use ext3 on all my machine don't swear at me lol
