Today (March 4th) is the 10th Birthday for the big launch of the PS2 system.

Over 140 million units have been sold world-wide since then. Great games are still being released! And Super Wonderful New Programs like OPL and FMCB, make owning a PS2 even after 10 years, a every-day great enjoyment of the video gaming console world!

Wow it's been 10 years? Seems like it's been around longer than that..

Yep are ages are starting to show through now...

I think the PS2 is going to be around much longer than expected, now that these new programs have come into play.

Thanks to FMCB, HDL, USBA and now OPL, we can use our PS2s that would otherwise be broken, even without using methods like chips which are largely unavailable in many countries.

I have many PS2s with non-working lasers that are still going strong thanks to the home brew community here

I'm even more hyped for the stuff Ragnarok is working on that can be implemented into many home brew apps to make features possible that were not available, or working well enough before.

Now if only there were some homebrew that could be made to emulate all those DNAS servers that are no longer available for hundreds of online games.
    V3, V7, V9 PS2s FMCB 1.8/W custom FREEMCB.CNF , ULE+ICON GUI, HDL .8b childsafe, ESR, OPL beta, Misc. 3.5, & 2.5" HDDs
    PSP 1000
    PS3 60 GB BC compatible

I look to my SCPH-10000 (which I own since 2002) and think "wow it's 10 years old now, for real !)
    AND IT STILL WORKS !!!!!

    Edit:

Hey I would use the top one with OPS2L if it worked on the 10000... I have an 18000 I can use with it though. I can use that harddrive with OPS2L if I connect it to the 18000.

Don't know. -- Beats me. -- I just used "Google Images" -- Type in "Playstation Cake", and you gets tons and tons of cakes, made for birthday's, weddings, game launchs, etc. -- I just pick one that had 10 candles on it, as it is fitting for Sony's 10th Birthday, most likely I just stole the image of some game loving kid from his 10th birthday. -- Oh'well, got to love Google!

Don't like the cake that I picked for the 10th PS2 birthday, how about this one:

But it needs to be updated for the newest Final Fantasy now that it is out.

As for personally, I have never see a "Playstation" cake in real life, but long long time ago for the 5th birthday of the DEC ALPHA (A great CPU that was designed to last 25 years when launched! ), I shared in a slice of a "Dec Alpha Birthday Cake" with a bunch of high-end Dec execs during their birthday party for the DEC ALPHA, a year later DEC got sold off in parts to Compaq (I guess the high-end Dec execs knew, reason for the big party a year before! ), and the "Alpha" was killed a few years later, so there was no more "Cake's" for me to eat.

How's that for dating myself, that was a couple of years before even the PS2 was launched!
