Those waiting for a taste of God of War III before the year ends may have to make do with the God of War I & II Blu-ray compilation to get their fix. According to John Hight, the director of production development at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio, it's unlikely that a God of War III demo would be included in the compilation due out later this year.

    Here's what Hight told IGN:

That is unlikely at this juncture. First and foremost, we want to be able to have this available for this holiday, and we don’t have a demo available yet that we feel is release-ready.

I know a lot of people played the E3 demo and dug it and everything but, as far as our standards, it’s not ready to go into everybody’s home. So we wouldn’t want to hinder our efforts to get God of War 1 and 2 out.

So there goes those rumors that the demo would be included in the two-pack, but at least we know that it's definitely coming. And if you consider the amount of attention they're giving to the demo, just imagine how the full game would look like.

God of War III is scheduled for a March 2010 launch.

Well that figures what do you guys think?

I think Sony took a page from the M$ playbook here. Take away backward compatibility and then sit back and watch our customers buy their PS2 games all over again on Blu-ray. One more reason to steer clear of the PS3.

I meant that once I do get a ps3, I'll still be able to play the classics without having to buy them again.

Reading the info on IGN it's confirmed that it's all recompiled code for the PS3 to run with higher resolution textures and display modes rather than being emulated PS2 titles which means they could easily release recompiled PS2 titles via DLC although multi disc games and DVD9 games would take a while to download which is why they probably decided to go down the Blu-ray route instead.
