The Ghost 2 Team of their new updated v1.03 firmware release, and the following related NEWS on their Ghost 2 PS2 mod-chip:
Users will want to beware of this chips firmware. It was discovered that their "dev" team has been actively using Sony's Official SDK (Software Development Kit) Making this chips firmware HIGHLY ILLEGAL!The Dev. Team have prepared a new revision (1.03) of the core kernel for the G.2 main IC (the Actel APA075 TQFP100). The main changes were on DVD movie playback and F+G wire routines.
The good news are that this new kernel revision no longer requires the F wire. Total number of wires is now, depending on the console version, 18 or 19 for NTSC/J (JAP), and 17 or 18 for NTSC/U (US) and PAL. The schematics were updated to reflect these changes. Apart from these wires (F+G routines), there is no differences in the new Core Kernel. The HongKong Double Layer DVD movies problem should now be solved because it was caused by the F and G wires.
Although these changes are made to the main Actel IC kernel, and cannot be made by software upgrade to previously sold chips, they were just made to simplify the installation process and allow the chip to run better with fewer wires. All previously sold chips will obviously keep working, all new firmwares will be compatible with both the old and the new kernel versions and all new functions will work with both kernel versions. Again, these are small "tweaks" to improve the main processor functions, this is not a new chip and all previously sold chips will keep working with all new upgrades.
We know that you were probably all expecting news about forthcoming Firmware features, like DEV mode, HDD Xplorer and such. We have been delayed due to the high priority issues explained above. But since they are all fixed now, so from now you can expect news more often and be sure that the next news will more than make up for all the delays
