    Now with Graf_chokolo recent amazing research on the PS3, LINUX has finally been making a great come-back return to the PS3 consoles, which been a long time coming when Sony decided to force it out of our consoles back a year ago!


    With the recent new booting advancements it now possible to very easy install any Linux distro you wish on your PS3 console even if you running v3.55 or earlier firmwares, and to aid you in doing so, George234 has written up a nice short tutorial to guide you in getting everything up and running:

    I dont buy a high end device unless it has been hacked in some way

    I don't think I can resist trying this, thanks all involved!

    What are the risks though, what potentially can go wrong? If the only risk is the possibility of losing data on the hard drive or having to format the drive if it fails then I am not concerned in the slightest.

    sorry i havent followed the linux on ps3 for a while.

    does have linux full gpu support,
    is xmbc running smoothly on linuxx now possible?

    This is what I would like to know as well. If we can run Linux, can we presumably run a Linux version of XBMC?

    Sure , you just have to port XMBC to PPC architecture - but in theory it is not a problem at all.

    I need some help with ubuntu 10.10 ppc for PS3.
    Every time I try to check disk, run live, or install, it gives me a kernel panic. If I update to the latest kernel, will that fix the panic? Also, I noticed that the version of busybox is outdated, although I figure that it's pretty hard to port to ppc.
