Just installed this through USB on my Fat PS3 60GB with original 3.55. The update went just fine but when tried to install test.pkg it first gave me an error.
I just redownloaded the pkg to the USB stick and then it installed and executed nicely

EDIT: Oh yeah, and PS Store and titles like GT5 are all still working like before

i'll put my money on the spanish hacker ,he did everything geohot and kakaroto did in a couple of days ,lets not forget geohot had the ps3 open longer then anyone else so he probably knows al there is to know he just doesn't want to share ,that spanish dude is already working on a backup manager just in a couple of days after release of the keys

PSN PKG files are encrypted, so the PS3 checks that you have a license to install the game before allowing it. If you had somehow lost access to your PSN games, using the FTP server may allow you to play them again. This would also mean that you could pirate PSN games--again, if it works, I'm not sure it will.

Shows up fine in the package manager.

Clicked install and it gives the error 80029567.

Could this be because the console is not connected to the internet to verify any validation needed or is it simply because some PKG files will not work?

No, what I mean is use ps3tools' "ungpkg" program to unpackage a PSN PKG. This gives you a directory. Then run an FTP server on your PS3, and put that entire directory into your GAME folder. Try that.

link, stating he is working on a backup manager? i wouldn't be surprised and can't wait for this to happen. not everyone is a pirate and would like a backup manager so they dont have to keep changing games out.
