Sony would never go for that, but man I wish they would. I know a lot of you are really into backup managers, but I promise you if there were a real development sandbox on the PS3, supported by Sony, the devs would come out of the woodworks. You'd have mediacenter apps in no time.

Half the reason there is no great homebrew is because only 1% of the market can even run the software. Imagine if everyone could run homebrew (devs would collaborate to get a good media center app in no time since they'd be able to develop for 50 million people instead of a small handful [and they wouldn't need to worry about being sued by Sony]).
