KaKaRoTo, a very talented Developer has released a port of Free Heros 2 (Heroes of Might and Magic II clone) for the PS3.

Free Heroes 2 is now available to download from The Humble Homebrew Collection ! I know the site sucks, deal with it (or help improve it!)

Next version will add selection of free map packs for FHeroes2, and hopefully get that pink background fixed too.

Note: make sure you connected your ps3 to the internet for the first run, it needs to download the game data (licensing issue).

Download at The Humble Homebrew Collection

I saw this on his github site, or whatever awhile back, and was wondering when it was going to come out. The more homebrew the better.

Rut-Ro! My CFW PS3 isn't touching the internet. Guess I'll have to pass!

Very good point. When I make a dedicated download page for free heroes2, I will explain how to get it setup without an internet connection.
Simply download the Heroes of Might and Magic II Demo on your pc, here's the link :
    http://downloads.pcworld.com/pub/new...egy/h2demo.zip
Then use an FTP server to put that file in /dev_hdd0/game/HEROES200/USRDIR (I think that's the right directory.. I'm sure you'll figure it out, just make sure you install the ps3 port of the game first).
Then after you run the game, it will extract the contents, and ask you to restart.. You could also extract it yourself then FTP the extracted files, but it's best to let it to do it for you.
By doing that, it will not require an internet connection since you already downloaded the demo.

This is necessary because all the sprites, graphics, sounds, etc.. are copyrighted by 3DO and cannot be redistributed, but you can get them from the demo for free.

This will also give you one map (the one in the demo), and I'm working currently on an auto-download of community-designed free maps. I will let you know where to download them from once it's done.

    Hope you enjoy it!

In theory, this could be done with a file manager such as multiMAN, instead of FTP. Corrrect?

I don't know what multiMAN does, I never tried it.. but if it's similar to Comgenie's file manager where you can copy a file from usb into any directory of the ps3, then yes, you can also do it that way.
