That was quite fast, yesterday I thought 1.8 would still take couple of weeks to complete. I shall now boot my computer and come back to forums and download and install it. Looking good by image and changelog. Thanks for everyone who has give their effort to this great app.

Edit: Installer was wery informative and easy to use. ELFs really launch faster, about 2-5 seconds depending elf.
(X Enter) is in different position than in prewiev image, but it's nice in left side of screen.

Conclusion: Beautiful, nice improvements. Installed fine over 1.7. (I first was trying to install from mass:/Free_McBootv1.8/ and it didn't find files to install, my bad, installing from drive root folder worked as it should.)

Edit2: I'm stupid or what.. OSD Settings has values for Enter and Version.. (Just remembered, not stupid... It's my first time in configurator with full size TV... I was using 4" monitor before for gaming because it supports NTSC. Now with big screen so I can see the glory of FMCB 1.8 )

i must say im very pleased to see version 1.8 finally out. as you guys may have heard before i send many many thanks for all the hard work to always improving the scene with great apps and homebrew.

heres my deal though. i have a v7 fatty with a maxtor 160GB drive and a network adapter. i use hdloader 0.8c and its been working great for me but heres the wierd part. ive been using fmcb v1.6 for the longest time. i tried upgrading to v1.7 because i loved the scrolling aspect and the osdsys layout but after i had 1.7 running it would either blackscreen on execution or freeze in the first screen no matter which version whether patched or not. do you think 1.8 will have the same issue? do other ppl have that same issue or maybe my machine just hates me?

ps my bad if you think this is in the wrong forum but it does pertain to fmcb and im excited about a new version

Many bugs have been fixed as well as improvements added, so its possible your HDL blackscreen issues have gone.
Well, theres one sure way to find out, thats install 1.8 and report back if its worked or not.

I love FMCB 1.8. I skipped the 1.7 release because I was just busy and 1.8 blows 1.6 away! Many thanks to all the people that put the work into making FMCB what it is now, you guys rock.

BTW, as far as the black screen goes, this may help. If the configurator has not been setup correctly and you have an ESR disc in the tray you will always get a black screen after the splash at boot.

thanks for the input guys its much appreciated.

ps: the black screen and freezes come after i load the elf from the osdsys menu. everything else would also work perfectly. and no disc in the drive at all.

i will try to do a fresh install of 1.8 and see what happens after class today and give you guys an update.

Im sure it will get fixed, but in the meantime you can always get it from the Official Release thread:

    PSX/PS2/PS3 Scene Newz > PlayStation2 Forums > PS2 Homebrew/Dev & Emu Scene > FreeVAST > Official Free MC Boot Releases

BTW: The link is invalid because it was updated and changed.
