Gawd has once again amazed us with yet another excellent port to the ps2. This time its the highly acclaimed classic Flashback using CYX's rewritten engine. You can get more info and the cdrom image or standalone ELF at Gawd's Flashback Website. :)
Awesome news! This is by far one of the coolest games! I nearly fried my Amiga playing this game so much! :D
Great port! I used to play this on the Atari ST. :p
if gawd can do that with flashback then can he can do that with ff2 and 3 on the snes rom...? or any other game? its just a question. but nice work on the flashback.
I don't wanna start a My System Is Better Than Yours war, BUT the AMIGA was a better system than the ST for games :DQuote:

i've tried the CD iso on my hdd but it doesn't launch (probably caused by wrong LBA or cd:0 path instead of hdd:0). it plays just fine when executing from Xlink.
Yeah, actually it took me quite a while to release Flashback, I ran into 2 nasty GCC bugs, and it took me 12 days and 13 medias to realize that. I crashed when running from CD, but worked fine when running from ps2link.
At any rate, I have ported Another World from the 3DO console myself, two years ago. It runs on SDL (Win32, FreeBSD, Linux and such,) GBA (highly compressed music,) and now Playstation 2. The 3DO version is ~270MB (not that 1MB DOS version,) and contains 44khz 16bit stereo background music, 320x200x16bit backgrounds, and digitized sound effects. If you know the story with Foxxy and Cyx, Eric Chahi wouldn't let us release our games. Recently he gave permissions for me to release a Playstation 2 binary. So, no sources this time. Expect this version in a week or two, it will be mind blowing! And then I will release Heart of The Alien (another remake of mine,) which is already running on SDL compatible plaforms. HOTA can be downloaded at http://hota.sourceforge.net, a new version is to be released this weekend with LOTS of code cleanups and bugfixes (download CVS version if you want those.)
That's about it.
I know it sounds weird, but I like seeing stuff of mine in action. Like the action shots on Thinkgeek :), if you have some time to kill, please take a picture of your TV running Flashback. That'd be awesome. (And a good way to see how the cropping works.)
here are your RGB PAL screenshots (sorry for bandwidth guys!)

One of my favorite Mega Drive/Genesis games!
I have the Sega CD version, and played the 3DO version a lot back in the day.
all right I'm a big fan of Flashback, I finished it countless times on the MD, and the convertion is nice.
however, some (little) things do not seem right:
-timing: in the intro seq, the last "crack" sound should be synchro with the shooting of the bike. Maybe 50/60hz desync?
-sound: no "item found" music, when finding an item obviously.
-not working from HDL
Don't think I'm not happy, these are only minor quirks, but I can't help but notice them ;)
