HI MARK, i can't figure out how to overcome drive init fail problem. NG problem turn my ps3 into a box. need ur help pls.
try to download the files again.
What i was wondering: I got this method is a remarry, when you change your BD drive with a working one. What happen with a FAT 60 console, who lost the BD reproduction, doing all the procedure? restore your BD now able to read BD movies? Surely someone ask yet, in case, link me the answer, thanks
If you have to swap/use a new BD board, you already lost BD playback before you begin to downgrade.

Wow, and with a whole 2 posts.

Does the drive allow you to insert and eject discs (yes I know it's not going to run the disc)
Thanks for your reply.

Unless the board is married up, you can't run any packages to get the system flagged.
So we only have one option for downgrading either way.
Could an unmarried drive stop me from running things like multiman? Everything I run in kmeaw and rebug black screens, including gaia and comgenie. I have reinstalled reformatted rebuilt everything multiple times. I have a bluray drive in this ps3, but it is the drive from another OFW ps3 I own. Could the fact that the logic board is from another ps3 be the issue with me running things off my internal HD like Multiman???
Also, if i remarry this drive to this cfw ps3, will i still be able to pop it back into my OFW ps3 and use it there?
Ok, if you need to ask 20 questions, can you at least seperate them for ease of answering.
If you have swapped a drive from another PS3, then it will not work. That is why it has to be married up.
During the remarry process, the console sends a key to the drive to make them a set.
So, that should also answer your other question.
If you marry a drive to a PS3, it would have to be remarried back to the other to use it again.
You can have 5 drives for one Ps3, but you cannot have one drive for 5 Ps3's.
Alright, so I got a weird problem now. I have my drive I recently bought from ebay connected to the drive board and the drive board to the motherboard.
Then I followed the instructions in the remarrying tutorial and my PS3 responded a "PASS" for the DRIVE INIT. But trying to play a Bluray Movie or a PS3 game still doesn't work. The disc gets pulled into the drive but the system doesnt recognize the disc. So I thought well, maybe I bought a broken drive. But the weird thing is that also homebrew still gives a blackscreen at start. Updating to a non-modified firmware (with Bluray firmware) works now.
Has anybody ever had a similar problem and knows what to do?
