I sure hope so. That would solve a LOT of the 400 errors.
Only thing we need now is a way to do on newer updated units.. Most people with busted lasers likely didn't update tho.

I would just want to put a kem 410 drive on a cechc03 60gb console. atm all I have is 400 type drives so wouldnt want to buy one and find out it doesnt work.

    Thanks.
Pata drives use the ribbon cable that is about 1" wide. The sata drive is about 1/4" easy to tell them apart.

Ahh I know what you mean, I have seen slim stripdown videos and wondered why the cable was so small.

    Code:
    -- manufacturing_updater_for_reset MD5 90168C03B217CE775A7839D87BBFF2A3
    I am getting a different MD5 for the manufacturing_updater_for_reset.self

    Code:
    9e3c9024e9243478d21c78e1c9df2376
I downloaded it twice from the link. The CRC32 is the same as shown in the screenshot of the original post (93f18a95).

I'll assume you have an old 256meg fat ps3. The slims and newer 16meg fats are not seeming to have any issues with BD playback.

I am updating the main post in a few minutes... I have a cunning plan

The actually working manufacturing_updater_for_reset.self has this md5
    Code:
    9e3c9024e9243478d21c78e1c9df2376

The other one was posted by ifcaro @ elotrolado, but not corresponding with the known working files. I don't know if this file is correct.
