Hello does anyone know howto backup the Devflash folders if you don't have a BR-Drive married to console?
I wish to retain or fix the BR-Drive compatibility and am told best way is backing up devflash but as we all know homebrew fails to launch without a working drive, even ftp fails. So I am wondering howto.
Anyone?

Simple answer is you don't.
If you have a 256meg fat, your going to have to figure out the DRL's.
If you have a 16meg fat or slim, you have nothing to worry about. BluRay will just work without the correct DRL's.

I Cant seem to enter factory service mode, I have several ps3s, one on 3.41, one 3.30, one on 1.51, Do i need a different hex file for each? Can I began downgrade to 2.30 from these firmware? or do I need to upgrade to higer firmware, then downgrade?

Now i have a 60GB CECHC02 PS3 Australian (with partial ps2 software emulation) with BD prohibited message that the drl hex creation method didn't fix. I have looked after this console well and tried to keep it as cool as possible to starve of the YLOD, some of the mods i've done include:
1. Cut a circular hole directly under the Fan on the ps3 bottom case and put in a grill
2. Purchased a vertical stand
3. Moved the hdd inside of the vertical stand to keep its heat out of the PS3
So i don't wanna buy another PS3 with BD playback that might YLOD on me at some time.
So.
If i was to buy a second CECHC02 PS3 on ebay or somewhere else with an exploitable FW version and with known good BD playback could I transfer it's DRLs to my PS3 and remarry its drive to my PS3 to get BD playback back?
Anyone tried this and did it work?
Bump.

ANY bluray control board should let you execute homebrew (blackbox ftp or multiman for ftp access) to copy your devflash. the control simply needs to be PRESENT for any homebrew to work

no, you cant exactly do what you described and restore bluray playback on your original ps3. the DRLs in questions are the ones that USED to be in your ps3's devflash. you're stuck trying the OTHER method for restoring bluray playback on 256Mb nand ps3s... search the forum for it - i think it's a sticky

Please help, I cannot get into factory service mode, Im using x3 max, using generic.bin, and when i select any of the hex it says. "File does not contain valid descriptor. Please try another HEX file" I still upload it, but when It boots both lights on the dongle stay on, so no service mode, I have been working on this all week with no avail. Im running 3.41 with an unmarried board. Tried to use the hex files from [psgrade-all-boards-fixed]

You CANNOT run homebrew using ANY control board until it is married to the PS3.
You can upgrade/downgrade using any board since it only checks the presence and not if it is key matched.

Issue with Init Fail on Remarry
Issue with Init Fail on Remarry –

Hi
This is probably one for the knowledgable Mark Webber who has helped so many in this thread. Im having an issue with the init fail error when trying to remarry.
A bit of history! :-
Second hand (play thing PS3 40 GB) with no bluray drive but came with the logic controller. The controller i have only works if pressure is asserted on top of the connector of the ribbon cable (not the cable itself so im guessing its loose or just generally broke!).
I downgraded to 2.30 with a lv2diag.self file from jaicubus?, which bypasses the logic drive check (i needed this to downgrade which i think is half the issue).
So i have bought a new bluray drive with a logic board which is all good (bluray playback i have on my other non jailbreak ps3 so i dont care too much). Takes disks, tells you on the console if there is a disk in the drive with a blue light but the eject is trixy (only works when you turn unit on and press eject) and i cannot upgrade or downgrade unless i use a bdb bypass lv2self diag or PUP file.
Im guessing the refurbed logic board that came with the drive is indeed faulty and the guy who sold it probably thought that i wouldnt find out. I have checked the cables and they seem a nice tight fit, i have tried my other ribbon cable too and the same thing happens.
I just want to double check that this is probably the case and ill get him to send me a new logic board which is a bdm-003 on a cecgh03 40gb console. My original logic board is also a bdm-003.
PS, great forum and help to us noobs!.
Cheers
Jules.

So how do I enter service mode? I have x3 max, what files do I use on my x3 max? It wants a .bin, and then .hex, Why does it need two files?
