    Ok heres what i did
To get bd playback back, you need another PS3 with PATA Drive and CFW 3.55
Insert a band new bluray out this week ect play it
Then use multiman to grab you dev flash revoke, copy it to usb
Now take the PS3 apart and swap the drive with the non playback drive
Downgrade the ps3 to 2.30 ofw 256meg use the drive software to marry it all up
lv2 diag then update to cfw 3.55
Go back to multiman and recopy back to dev flash the revoke file
instert the bluray you used b4 check it works
No swap drive back the no bd play back ps3 copy the drms same as b4 to flash dev3
Restart you should now have BDplayback :-)

Mark is the BD board getting totally reformated when it gets remarried back up ie the DRM from prev bluray getting wipped so what ever disc you put in is written

    Hope this helps

Okay so i said i would put up results ... here i am.

Took a bluray drive from an original launch ps3 60gb and put it into a 40gb chechgo3.

comleted the marrying process by putting the ps3 into factory restore mode, turning of, putting in usb with custom files (furthest port to the right) waiting for it to finish etc... I Can confirm that it is fully functional except for BD playback (ive tested dvd, a ps3 game and they both worked)

so how do i get full bd playback

EDIT: Well i updated to 3.15 and now have complete bluray capabillities (dvd, game and bd disk) thanks to the developers. here is what i did:

    1. Used E3 card reader to get into factory mode
    2. Took out Bluray drive and put it back in
    3. Plugged in USB stick with the files (dev usb 0000) into right port
    4. USB Downgraded to 2.30 aswell as marry bluray drive
    5. Waited.... took about 5-8mins. It turned off. I took out USB stick and turned back on.
    6. Succesful Marry, Bluray drive plays dvd's, Games but not bluray (shrek the final chapter)
    7. Tested bluray a numerous amount of times, looked for resolutions to problem. error code 80029940
    8. Decided to see what would happen if i came out of factory mode, so i did by putting on file 2 or the exit lv2diag onto usb, powering it off then plugging usb into right port. Turned on done the process then turned off. i took out usb.
    9. Booted up 2.30 ran bluray movie disk , error code appears again.
    10. Put 3.15 Update.pup file onto a blank a usb stick, updated ps3. Process finished (have to run new ps3 startup process), bluray movie doesnt work at all, no load.
    11. Shutdown playstation and started back up via inserting disk (not pressing power button) All seems fine and now have bluray movie playback.

thanks to the developers who helped me achieve this

Sounds good if you got it to work like that =)
As for the DRL being wiped, it is stored on the PS3 side. The matching HRL is stored on the Drive side.
The HRL is not wiped during any of this, and is the reason you need to correct the DRL files on the PS3 side (dev_flash3)
The only thing that will modify the HRL is a newer version MKB on a new disc.
On a 16meg, it doesn't seem to give a rats about the DRL, as long as one is there, so they have no problems with downgrading etc.

    You can easily check this.
Play the bluray on the 16MB PS3, the movie has to start.
    Then quit.
Use ftp or another prog and copy your DRL files in dev_flash3 to your pc.
Extract the DRL files from the bluray you just played.

Compare both files with a hexeditor (from the bluray and from the dev_flash3 folder). If they are the same you did it right and it should work, if they are not the same use a newer bluray disk.
If they are equal and you still got the prohibited message you did something wrong or you have to use a newer bluray disk.
i have remade the all process with a new blu ray (burlesque) MKB 21 and still no go....still have the prohibited message.

So the HRL is the problem on the BD board, so my idea is correct
If you have a perfect working ps3 fat with cfw you update to the lastest bluray copy DRL from flash then copy back donner after remarried

    :-)

I have loads of bd boards here and about 10
Only 16MB ps3 tho i have is dead due to my up-2008 programmer killing the flash( Btw does the Harddrive on the 16 Meg ps3 have any info regarding flash bootloader 0 bootloader 1 CSD EID ect i really need to find that info

Btw how did you reflow it, professional or with a heater?
Just used a heat gun. I've done several xbox360s and ps3s this way, and all but one 360 still work great after a year+ (the one bad 360 had been reflowed prior to me doing it, and it failed less than a minute after I turned it on)

You didn't have to update to 3.55.
Did you check the HRL files of the 16MB with the HRL files of the BluRay and did they match? You don't have to go any further if they don't match.
Your 256mb PS3 should be on Firmware 2.30 for the remarry process.
Did you check the logs after downgrading, maybe it wasn't succesfull?

You have to do all these steps:
    credits: Mark Webber.
It would appear that older 256meg nand Ps3's need to goto 2.30.
Newer 16meg nand Ps3's should be fine from 3.15

    1. Copy contents of the devusb folder to the root of a blank usb stick
    2. Copy the PS3UPDAT.PUP from 2.30 to the root of the USB stick

    3. Put the Service Mode Dongle into furthest left usb port
    4. Press power then eject within .2 seconds
    5. Wait until the PS3 turns off
    6. Remove the Dongle and put the USB stick into the right side USB port on the PS3
    7. Then press the power button on the front again.
    8. The USB will now start to flash and do a "Drive Init" then install the PUP file.
    9. The system will turn itself off again.
    10. Power on and play a BluRay movie until the movie starts.
    11. Shutdown PS3.
    12. Remove the files from your usb stick.
    12. Now exit servicemode; copy Lv2diag file 2, to your usb stick.
    13. Put the usb stick with the Lv2diag file 2 into the furthest right usb port.
    14. Press power on to exit "Factory Service Mode". The system will turn itself off again.
    15. Done......

    Update #3: If you have a 256meg Fat PS3 - Read On.
As we are all aware by now, downgrading kills BD playback on 256meg fats.
Made even worse now by the fact we may be using a drive we dont even know the history of, right?
Wrong, history is just that now if you have access to another 16meg PS3.

    1. Insert the NEWEST BD movie into the 16meg PS3.
1a.This will update that system & drive with the latest HRL
    2. Marry the drive you want to use on the 256meg fat.
    3. Remove both the drives (mark them if you have to).
    4. Place the drive from the 256meg onto the 16meg system and marry them up.
    5. Update the firmware on your 16meg Ps3 to whatever you normally use.
    6. Insert the NEWEST BD movie again into the drive now on the 16meg.
6a. This wil update the drive with the latest version of HRL
    8. Swap the drives back over
    9. Get the DRL files from the BD disc you used
    10. Transfer the DRL files to the 256meg fat PS3 in the dev_flash3 folder overwriting the ones already there.

Can you send the DRL up to arrod's site.
I am somewhat confused as to how it is an MKB21 is all.
    http://arodd.com/showtitles.php
Use the "Generate DRL" at the top of the page.
