    Question,
I'm trying to remarry my drive board. I bought a ps3 on craigslist that was missing the drive controller board, the light sensor for the disk and the magnetic top that holds the cd down once inserted. So I bought another board on ebay and now the drive constantly thinks there should be a disk in it. When I turn on the ps3 the drive checks for a game for about 5 seconds then stops. I'm trying to put the system in service mode using a sony psp 2001 with 5.50 gen d3 custom firmware and using the jig software on it. I run the program on the psp and then turn on the switch on my ps3 and press the power then eject button quickly.

The psp says: requesting jig challenge..
    challanged recieved 00 01 ff ff 2e 02 01 53 52 6b....
    calculating response...
    sending response: 00 00 ff 00 2e 02 02 aa aa 48
    sent response: 00 00 ff 00 2e 02 02 aa aa 48
    done

Which to me looks like it is working but the ps3 boots up normally and doesn't turn off like it is suppose to. It never enters service mode.

I've also tried with only the controller board only but still won't go to service mode.

My question is do you need a working board to get into service mode or is the psp just not working and I need to wait for my ps3break to get here.

    Thanks for the help

    Anyone have a clue

it seems, that it is common bug with PS3Jig. I don't know will Brandon fix it, or how to make this app to work. I'm already discussing it here http://psx-scene.com/forums/f177/how...sp-work-81554/ (how to get ps3jig for psp to work...)

Edit: Sorry, I just re-read your post.
Why did you exit service mode at 2.30 & now need to go back into it?
Just update back to 3.15 though the XMB and put it back into service mode.
    Hello,

Because people said that you need to exit service mode after downgrade and configure settings (language...etc) and come back in service mode.

I'm going to try without leaving service mode.

    Thank you.

From what i gathered here and there...
Maybe someone can fill in the unknowns or correct things

I just found out that i bought a wrong 80GB PS3. It has a BD with sata cable and i need a console with a BD with pata cable
And then you have the different boards

I also have a drive from a 40GB with pata, but that cable goes straight into the drive underneath the housing.

So i need a PS3 with pata and the same board as the CECHC and 16MB Nand
According to the list that's not possible...

    Any advice on this please
Which type console can help me to get my bluray working again on my 60GB CECHC 256MB?

All models from CECHA to CECHG are 256MB NAND, and use the PATA interface. Everything after that is 16MB NOR, and (I believe) use SATA interface. Indeed, it is not possible to do what Mark Webber suggested. I was scratching my head when I read his post, but figured maybe he knows something I don't?

I was afraid someone would say that
But he clearly stated that 256 and 16 are interchangeable

Maybe he can give us more info how he exactly managed to do that, PS3 model and board type...

So i guess the bluray drive from the 40GB i have lying here is from a 256MB model because the cable is PATA and has the board built into the actual casing?

So you need to buy one of the USB service dongles to make this work? The normal "hold power button" service mode wont work? or was that only added in OFW 2.5?
