Yep, XII is already on the way. Square-Enix doesn't get tired of making more and more Final Fantasy's. Here is some info borrowed from IGN. The game feels and looks like a mix between Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XI.

First traditional RPG installment in Square's long-running Final Fantasy series since Final Fantasy X. While Final Fantasy X-2 offered a mission-based structure, Final Fantasy XI explored online roleplaying, and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles focused on multiplayer link-up gaming, Final Fantasy XII (12) goes back to the meat of the series by offering a sweeping storyline, a party setup, and character advancement. The game follows the exploits of main character Vaan who can join forces with at least two characters at the time. Final Fantasy XII is being produced and directed by Yasumi Matsuno and is slated for release on PlayStation 2.

I loved FFX, I'm glad to see they at least included a little more FFX style to it than FFXI did, I HATE FFXI. This won't be online will it?

well considering that nothing has been said about any online aspect, it's probably safe to assume that nothing will be online. as there's no reason for anything to be online in a singleplayer rpg. maybe some downloadable content like bonus items or some sort of faq accessible online through a browser, but not the actual game.

    Argh....

I really don't like the ATB system. It feels rushed, and in turn based RPG's I like to take my time to plan attacks, not hurry up and select while the enemy pounds my party...

I hope the have the option to turn it off.

Just take a look at the screenshot in the first post .

    I don't see an ATB bar .

from what i recall seeing on numerous game websites, square has mentioned that the screenshots were specifically chosen to resemble previous ff games and merely be eyecandy at this point. they've also reportedly said that they werent using the ATB system from ff-x2.

and thank god they arent using the mission based crap from ffx-2. goddam i hate that game. need to visit the same areas to fight the same monsters over and over and over in every chapter so you dont miss anything, and at some points you even need to go back to areas a second time, or stay and run around when given the choice to leave. wtf were they thinking...

i could care less whether or not the game has a "medieval" look to it, as long as the gameplay itself doesn't suck.
