This is disgusting. If Sony wins, what will have the world come to.
To me that says we are only leasing the PS3 for an indefinite amount of time. And that's fine, but I want a ****ing lifetime warranty. That means Sony is sending another dangerous message: that it has rights in the computer it sells you even after you buy it, and therefore can decide whether your tinkering with that computer is legal or not.
I love the EFF. Thank god for sensibility.
Even IF Sony wins (wouldn't that be twisted if they did) I suspect work will continue, just more anonymously. No matter what they do, they're not going to stop anything. You can't un-cook an egg.
Love the comment about the lifetime warranty.. Good one.
Ya, they want to control what we do with our devices but at best we can see a 90 day warranty on their junk. Thanks but Sony can kiss my...
New 3.56 firmware, comes with "Sony's watching yo ass" capability for the PS Eye. What's next?? The masses don't care but seriously, little by little we're losing overall "freedom".
same here if they want to control what we do with OUR equiptment then we expect them to keep it woking the same as the day we bought it for as long as they expect us to abide by their terms of use.
Lol.. I would disagree with that totally. Even if their PSN EULA does state that. If I buy a computer with Windows and format it install Linux and connect to the internet is that illegal?? No, since thats what I do anyways. Micosoft doesn't sue XBOX users for hacking their device they only ban because they want to protect the consumers experience from hacks with online gameplay. Such as Sony will do.
Sony's online gameplay isn't even that good of an experience. The only thing I would miss from the PSN account is my Playstation Plus account and the hundreds of dollars of PSN content I have downloaded. If Sony wants to lose out on that money their only shooting themselves in the foot.
I think suing Geohotz & Co to be extreme. I've always supported SCEA but as of lately I find myself siding with the Pirates. Maybe it has something to do with Sony charging me 178.00 last year to fix my 60GB PS3 that YLODed. Maybe it's the fact that Sony removed my otherOS feature that came with my PS3. Maybe it's the fact that I bought into all the PSMove controllers and have no good games to play. My local Gamestop had 6 used PSMove controllers yesterday for 44.99USD each.
When is Sony going to do something that actually benefits their consumers regardless of how much money they make?
