i dont get it... what this going to do ?
The description of this tool is misleading, this only does step 3) of the "castlevania tutorial" , and not the complete procedure. It will only scan and replace text inside a .ELF (not .bin). It still needs to be decrypted first , then encrypted.. etc.
As to what the 8 characters are , they should be dev_XXXX where XXXX= hdd0, hdd1, bdvd, etc. But nothing tells us if the dropdownm menu is the text replaced with the text on the right, so I cant say which is which.
Its a nice thought from the author, but pretty useless really, as you can easily use the replace function of your hex editor to do that work. This tool could at least tell you how many times it found and replaced the string in the .elf file. It will really be a 1 step procedure if the other does add .pkg support.
edit: If you run this program on any file , even if no strings are found, it just tells you that the job is complete.. that's what i meant by the number of times the string was replaced.
Pffft... thats nothing.
