OK, goodbye REX, officially gone now compliments of Charlie PS2.
Who's asking anyone to 'give away' chips, just cos somethings paid for doesnt mean that gives you the right to post crap about it !
When Messiah was released, you know how 'someone' attained reviews ?
I'll tell you...
By installing in a number of consoles of members democratically elected and voted by members of a forum.
These members then went away with FREE chips and carried out their own tests and findings and reported back individually their own findings.
The chips were installed by someone from Wales UK for free because it was necessary that each chip be installed the same, and also that the installation was of quality and at the risk of the installer who would have replaced any console damaged by installing 'untested beta's'.
The way review of chips SHOULD be done.
However, the argument in this case is a clear matter that Charlie PS2 cahoots with Messiah 2 team. In fact FIY, it was actually the Messiah 2 coder himself who installed and prepared the console with DMS3 as indicated by Charlie referring to his 'famous friend', do we really sit here and wait for Messiah 2 team to come and give glowing reports for other peoples modchips and tell us how they work better than Messiah 2 ???
The argument Rex (my good buddy) put forward (maybe a little loudly), was that in his opinion Charlie PS2 has abused a position, it appears from looking from a distance, that a review of DMS3 was done as fast as possible (before others) and on the basis of comparison with messiah 2, by a messiah 2 'activist', and even with the aid of other Messiah 2 members.
OK, Rex does have reasons for grudge with Messiah 2, but I can assure you that should a sensible review of DMS3 been brought forward using sensible versions of consoles, and also not continually matched against Messiah 2, then Rex would have said nothing.
Who says Messiah 2 is the basis for comparison ?, functionality and performance itself is logically the only comparison required, and doesnt have to be deemed 'worse' or 'unlike' messiah 2, otherwise whenever we see mentions of DMS3, we may as well say things like macro-off (unlike messiah 2, green screen (unlike Messiah 2), DVD Multiregion (unlike Messiah 2) and so on, but we wouldnt say these sort of things.
However, the best thing to do now is to look for the findings from others and then go back to Charlie PS2's version and see what is the opinion, this NEEDS a review from people who cannot have any obvious reasons for giving a 'I'm disappointed' view, to backup my case, take a look on Isonews or CD-Rom Guide as Charlie's 'Im disappointed' review is already hitting forums.
R.I.P. REX (the most banned unbanned member to date ?)

As follows from Charlies review DMS 3 booting dtrategy like magic 3.1 and Messiah 2 still rulez if don't count upgradable flash and some other macrovision and dvd region free functions, whic is in my opinion not to much beacause it's better to have good game booting ps2 then multyregion dvd player ))

Just my opinion.
Actually, I have a table of what chip plays what.
Accepting your point about more than one man, at least you will see when I post that table how the use of a consistent test set provides a decent picture of what can do what. Obviously that won't be every game. Who has the time to do this? As I said before, a game may not boot because of the five reasons that interlink:
1 Media
2 Laser
3 Rip method (in rip cases)
4 Boot Strategy
5 Electronics - no noise getting into the works
The last two factors are vital and what we discover here are chips that are better or worse disposed to the other three factors.
Incidentally, why haven't these other reviewers not come forward? Do people trust my reviews or not? Probably they do judging by the majority comments from members to rallied to my support after Rex's outrageous outburst.

It looks to me that it is still a case of 'you pays yer money and takes yer choice'! Both Messiah2 and DMS3 have + and - points it now seems (though on any console but v8 DMS3 must be seen to have the edge).
It is early days days in the battle for 'world mod domination'. Time will tell which mod, if either, fails or suceeds when the v8 situation becomes clear and units start to appear in retail outlets exclusively.
Until then it is all pretty much academic and I'd rather have a beer!
Peace...

Look guys
Messiah 2 and DMS3 are in the same hole so far as DVD-R v8 is concerned.
To those people demanding v7 reviews (what a cheek) - consider this; you screw up your install; you hose your v7 PS2; you go down the shop to get a new PS2; for lo, and there was an v8. But the Lord said "let there be light". And there was light. My ph*cking v8 Review.
Now the DMS3 people know what their product will do in the v8. I'm sure they don't mind being told what they may already have known. It's no disgrace not to have it working on the v8 - nobody else has it working.
I think it was misleading to be told that it was working on the v8 - it was o their web site - probably gone now taken off but enough people saw it. But then I announced v8 support for Messiah 2 on the basis of 39008 / GH-019 only to have to qualify that for the GH-022 boards back to the state that DMS3 face. So even stevens there, sort of.
The issue that probably worries the DMS3 team most about the DVD-R situation is whether or not a flash upgrade will in the end be all that is required. You'll note that Messiah 2 isn't cracked yet. It has no flash upgrade so it's no problem to make a new chip with additional wires if, say, that was needed to fix the DVD-R problem. But market expectation for DMS3 is that it'll all be fixed with a flash upgrade.
But anyway, we can all relax; Rex has ordered a whole load of DMS3s as he said in his earlier post. He says he'll see what he can do. So don't worry, Rex is onto it.

the whole test on the v8 was to see if the dms3 team actually did crack the v8.....
i dont think anyone has actually read that part...

I guess it's safe to say that the DMS3 has at least lived up to the hype. I dont remember any modchip in PSX/PS2 history being met with so much controversy. Whether or not it lives up to the advertising has yet to be proven. I don't think it's fair for ANYONE to make final judgement until the chip has at least been tested on a more common model, such as the V7.
As for Rex, I hate to see him banned again but he brought it on himself. I un-banned him once on the basis of free speech but I can't keep saving his ass if he's just going to make personal attacks. I don't necessarily think that Charlie's choice to review the DMS3 on a V8 first was a good one, but that's no reason for the type of comments made by Rex.
Now the BIG question... Do I think Charlie is baised toward the Messiah2. Guess what? Yes, I do. But I also do not believe he would blur or distort facts in order to make the DMS3 look bad either. If the results are not favorable, then it's certainly no fault of his. I am confident that he can provide an honest review.
Thanks for that Xianaix. Much appreciated.
I will always be biased towards the best. People do appreciate this. DMS3 would have been best for functionality if it had equalled Messiah 2 in the basics. Then people could have adequately judged the value proposition.
To take up your v7 point, I expect the DMS3 to behave correctly with DVD-R and to have the same Rip issues as on v8. I always said I would test it on the v8 and I kept my word. As I have said elsewhere, when the v7s are hosed during an install and the v8 is what they get as replacement, Charlie's review will have been worth its weight. Early next week I'll put it onto a 37 pin plug and do the same review in the US v7. I'll also do a formal review of the Messiah 2 v1.23D (which is functionally the same as the v1.22a now on release) in the v8 rather than just say DVD-R doesn't work and the Rips do.
Also I am responding to a lot of e-mail from the far east, including Japan and China, where only v8s are now available. Australia will follow imminently if v7 release pattern is anything to go by. In the UK, wholesalers only have v6s - at least in my area.
And finally, something else I said in an earlier post - "Tomorrows Chip available Today" - so I tested it on Tomorrow's (Today's) PS2. People really wanted to know if they'd cracked v8.

I think the dms3 review by charlie_ps2 is good. It seems logical to base the review on V8 since it is the latest one. Sure, there are problems with V8 regarding all mods, but that makes the review even more interesting...
BTW;
Anyone who read this forum must have learned to read between the lines and filter the sales stuff by now. Many of us are indeed selling something so why expect 100% neutral posts? I'm sorry if this comes as news to anyone, but the hippie days where "love is all you need" are long gone.
