Test Subject: DMS3 v2.0 BETA!! This is NOT the final version!
Notes on DMS3 2.0 appearance: Color of circuit board has changed to Blue!
Test Console: NTSC (V1) GH-005 w/010 Bios

All Disks are NTSC unless otherwise noted.

Results of DMS3 v2.0 Testing

No Flash Upgrade was needed I assume the chips came with the 1.3 software

Boot on Eject: Tested Working
Sleep Mode: Tested Working
Always Boot on Reset: Tested Working

Browser 1.0 and Dev.olution Mode Tested Working as far as I can tell
Notes: Browser download, extraction and burn was no problem.

PS1 Original: Sampler Disc: Successful
PS1 Backup: Ready To Rumble 2: Successful
PS1 Backup: Mod Protected Tomba 2: Failed

DVD Movie: Region 1 Space Cowboys: Successful
DVD Movie: Region 1 Space Cowboys Backup: Successful
Macro OFF: Tested Working with standard A/V PS2 cable
DVD Region Free: Un-Tested

PS2 Original: Metal Gear 2 Demo CD: Successful
PS2 Original DVD: Dynasty Warriors: Successful
PS2 HK DVD Silver: Metal Gear Solid 2: Successful
PS2 Unpatched EA Game: Klonoa 2: Successful
PS2 DVD RIP: GTA3: Successful
PS2 CDR: Gadget Racer: Successful
PS2 DVDR: GTA3: Successful
PS2 NTSC/J DVD9 Gran Turismo Concept: Successful

AR2/GS2 Tested WITH CODES GTA3 DVDR: Successful
AR2/GS2 Tested WITH CODES Klonoa 2 CDR: Successful
AR2/GS2 Tested WITH CODES Metal Gear Solid Demo (Original): Successful

The install was straight forward on the V1. Basically the same points as ALL direct boot chips at this time. Let me also tell you the v1-v3 install is NO cakewalk for the inexperienced electronic hobbyist. Leave it to the PRO?s for the install those CD/DVD controller legs are small!

As you can see the tests came out rather well. As far as failures go PS1 Mod-Protected games I don?t think is a big factor. Patches seem to work well for these disks and there is not many Mod-Protected games. The DVD RIP failure on some disks seems to be solved with the NEW 2.0 version Hardware. I myself could only find one DVD rip that would not play on the old hardware.

EDIT!!!! Seems I made a mistake on connection point (C) The point I was using was a M2 installation point which is located right next to the DMS3 point this is why I had problems with AR2/GS2 booting with codes! My review has changed to reflect this and now I can give the FULL thumbs up!! For the DMS3 v2.0

Wait...so the DMS3 v2 **CHIP** is just a beta..or the **SOFTWARE** is just a beta?

this is a beta version of the v2 meaning this is the chip they are perfecting not final

yes it is for sale i suppose lod on'y had a beta version to test not the final
