Did Sony rush v3.42 firmware? - More Bricks, Game Crashs, Sound Problems!
Did Sony rush v3.42 firmware? - More Bricks, Game Crashs, Sound Problems! –

It seems let again, Sony is getting a backlash of users upset with the latest forced update v3.42 that didn't add a single new feature, but stopped the PSJailbreak / PSGroove / PSFreedom devices from working.
Majority of PS3 owners truely don't even care about those "homebrew" devices, but Sony does and it seems that the rush of blocking the update may have caused legit PS3 owners alot of headaches instead.
There is numerous reports of "Sound Problems", they seem to be the biggest problem, with sound cutting in and out. -- Also reports of games like COD:MW2, Battlefield 2: Bad Company, Madden 2011 in crashing or not even loading at times. -- Of course with ever new firmware update, there is the series of reports of "Brick's", the PS3 just looping, or frozen forever after the update.
Time well tell soon if this might be the SECOND buggy firmware that Sony has released, like the last one v3.41 they ended up "putting their foot in their mouth" and finally releasing a silent new repack of the v3.41 firmware.

looks like they inserted a code to prevent the hack but forgot to trap the loop..
edit: but i do feel sorry to those that were affected..

People are reporting that MW2 and BFBC2 are crashing the systems entirely. Sony won't obviously admit they f*cked up because they could care less. They blocked PSJB and that's all they wanted. From a business stand point they did what they had to do, but not testing the firmware properly is a major f*ck up.

To me it seems that those companies always end up hurting the legit users especially Sony who has maintained a good record for doing that.

Next comes the BS from Sony insisting that their firmware updates do not brick consoles. I'd believe it if I hadn't seen, first hand, consoles become unrecoverable from a legitimate fw update. Now we just need to investigate the possibility of a homebrew bootloader to re-install firmware / downgrade. What about efuses? Are we physically locked out of downgrading?

btw.. i just remembered.. about those units getting bricked? cant they access the recovery-menu-like thing in the PS3? the one where you hold the power button longer then you enter a black screen with a few options that you could do..

Another swift punch in the face for those legit users out of nowhere!
Another reason I will not be upgrading at any point in the near future! I wonder how long people are going to put up with these upgrade **** ups and feature removal?
They've got to draw the line somewhere surely...

these always pop up after a FW and these claims
however, i just bought a 120 GB Slim model and updated it, within 20 min my console frozed up on the XMB, i notice it runs slower then my original 60GB which is strange cause slim models are supposibly faster. One demo kept freezing on me. Usually i call this stuff BS but i am experiencing it.

I pre-ordered a 320GB + move starter pack which will supposedly have FW 3.42 so in other words it may be completely useless from the time is gets delivered.

NOPE!
The problem with the update if it starts a loop, like gets to 70% and or 99% or over 40% and crashs with an error, then the next time you turn it on, it will ask to update again, and the recovery-menu is locked out.
The only way in, is by opening up your PS3 and removing the BATTERY (yes, there is an battery in the ps3!), waiting like 30 minutes for the syscon memory to clear, and then you can get in to restore your system to previous firmware, and boot-up.
But with this v3.42 firmware update it seems to be more on the side, that the update finishs and the system comes up, but there is problems using it when you playing games, like sound, etc.
