Actually not really. If it were ever taken to court it's still illegal. Abandonware is a term coined by the very people who pirate those products. In court it's still illegal and if anyone decided to take you to jail over it, you would lose.

Hell I've had C&D's in the past over abandonware tied to IP's that have current releases. Like Zelda, and others.

Anyways I'm done ranting. Sorry but this CFW whining has gotten on my last nerve, especially when people have the gull to disrespect developers like square, and rebug, who actually keep this scene going and don't have the attitude like devs such as math. You wanna get outraged at a dev? Direct your anger at devs like math. Don't direct it at people who are still bringing you releases to the scene.

i do have a old ps1 but i like the convenience of being able to play ps1 games on my ps3 without having to get my modded ps2 or ps1 out, plus i have hdmi on the ps3 so the picture will be slighly better.

See I don't get it, the dongle can do more than the homebrew dongles can? Why do you need the hardware? Is anyone working on a homebrew dongle with ps1/2 backup loading? Why would you need the dongle anyway, it can't really do more than any other method of jailbreak, can it?

The hardware allows for protection/encryption of the code to do special things, without this the product would NEVER sell as people would just make a CFW. Personally I don't mind buying the hardware if they are willing to continue support for new CFW and new features.

I have been ripped off by dongle sellers in the past, promising the world and never delivering!
