Clone Modchip Consumer Alert!

Seems there has been a alot of stirring going around by cloners and lamers attempting to capitalize on making a quick buck while misleading the public with false information.

In the past few days there has been some very interesting things going on with the clone situation. First we go with the line of matrix infinity firmware compatible clones that have hit the market. Many indications show that this modchip clone may have been first released by the second half of the old matrix team. It has been well known in the scene that certain individuals of the matrix team defected and continued to use the matrix name to create other. lesser quality modchips. Many forum members have been reporting various problems with the infinity clones including permanent black screen when entering the configuration menu. A picture below of their infinitySE, strikingly simillar to the Ape and Modbo has been in circulation for quite some time.

News on the recent magicVxx clone, the muppet has also been posted right here on our forums. It seems the well known modchip ripper and scam artist lex luthor (MUPPET CHIP Info) is behind the magicV cloning and the false claims that the chip has 100% safe functions for the pstwo. The original magicV modchip and the inferior clone the muppet are shown below.

The next interesting development comes from the recently release ripperIV and neobright chips. Not only is this not a true ripper team modchip but both are also clones in a long line of ICE ripoff modchips. In case some of you are new to the scene. ICE is a free modchip code for the general public(non-commercial use) released right here at ps2-scene. Many sources have involved the huge scam ring known as d1vineo for manufacturing both of these chips. A number of people have reported bad issues beyond the normal ICE issues with this chip.

You have been warned and be careful when dealing with these clones and the shady scam artists that sell them!

completely forgot about that chip. added it to the list. They are also distributed by the same lamers that distribute the ripperiv.

As someone who has seen alot of mods come and go, I cannot stress enough for people to not purchase these knockoff pieces of shit. Especially in the case of older PS2's which are now nearly impossible to get with the release of the PsTwo. If you do not want to see your machine die after a few weeks or months of use, stick to the majors like Matrix Infinity or Crystal. If they are too expensive for you, get a fliptop lid but, please, do not risk your console with these inferior products.

It happens all the time. The xbox-scene is overrun with clones all the time. You have to be cery carefull when you purchase the chips.

One big difference is that the Xbox clones work just as well as the originals. most people can't tell the difference and the clones are sometimes preferred over the originals.

isnt this the same lex luther that was selling those matrix2 chips a few years ago that were magic2/3 clones? on a black pcb www.china-matrix or something what ever hapened to that fatmod with the low wire count he was bringing out he was doin preorders for that?

why dont they jut make them to a good quality, maybe thats what the x-box clones are like ?
