SKFU posted new information about CFW loading on his Blog!

He replace some firmware files with same files from v3.41 Debug and PS3 still work with new options!

If you have PS3 debug FW, you can try do it on your console.

    CFW Research Progress

While the USB Loader by Jaicrab has some trouble rebooting all correctly it seems for a final CFW we need to overwrite dev_flash instead just loading live from USB mass storage.

Some things you can already do for a nice working CFW:

    1. Replace all in "/vsh/module + /sys/external + /sys/internal" with the content of a 3.41 debug dev_flash.

    2. In "/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/category_game.xml" add this in the "view id=root" Items section

This will bring the "/app_home/GAME" and "Install PKG" options back.

    3. In "/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/category_psn.xml" switch "root" and "tool_root".

This will add Title Store previews in the network section, as pictured above!

    4. In "/sys/external" you grab liblv2dbg_for_dex from a debug unit and rename it liblv2dbg_for_cex. Replace liblv2dbg_for_cex with your new one and also add the debug liblv2dbg_for_dex.

Now you also have the debug options enabled.

I don't know how to show up the debug options icon yet, but you can modify the settings via the registry.

He posted it in the "member news" section, and when someone does, it PM's me to my MSN account, and it emails me, and it even makes my phone beep, so I then moved it to the front page.

@jamal94 -- Please stop fighting over news, it just a public forum let everyone get along nice with each other, otherwise I be forced to but you and the others fighting over news in a timeout couch for a few hours, as you all are acting like cry-babies!

lol who cares who posts the news first?

Unless you created the app/technique in question, all you are doing is DELIVERING the news, not creating it.

Anyway, from what we've seen from SKFU, I wouldn't expect much. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm sure I'm not.

    I have 2 questions:
    1. what's new to the Test console comparing to the regular ps3?
    2. if you write custom firmware on the internal flash, is it possible to implement the JB at startup without using the usb stick every time?

    Non-chaotic PSJB list here:

    Nothing for simple users.
But some debug options can work.

No, JB work before GameOS loaded.

    Twitter / Mathieu Hervais: @shaunnarayan Don't forget ...
But, Mathieulh said before, about fake PSP emu:
@shaunnarayan Don't forget that with the peek and poke syscalls, we pretty much gave you full kernel privileges on user applications.

@shaunnarayan there are various ways of bricking a ps3, also /dev_flash/ can be remounted as rw, in fact you can access the raw nand as well

Thats mind you already can mount dev_flash with RW permissions.
But JB work on other loading level.

Thats all it is my IMHO. I don't specialist, but i'm script programmer.
