BREAKING: Official Firmware v3.56 Goes Live

Man, I find that the best way to worry about a ban is to try not to worry at all. If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. In the Xbox side of things before I got a JTAG and was still able to go online I wasn't very careful with verifying through ABGX and whatnot to make sure my games were ripped correctly....and then there were people who were nearly OCD with that stuff....and even people who did as you did, go back to official DVD drive firmware from the hacked firmware.

Well, a few Novembers ago when Modern Warfare 2 came out, pretty much all of us got banned, or flagged for banning. Those who weren't careful, those who were, and those who tried to go legit again.

The lesson here? Either keep a console for online and one for modded play, or if you can only afford one console and want to have homebrew/backups....be prepared for the inevitable because no matter how careful you are, no matter if you try to go legit and 'hide' from it, it'll catch up eventually. So, in the meantime, just play, have fun, and **** the future, haha.

Personally I'm not bothered about PSN / Online Play - I just want to run my PS3 as I want to - with some cool retro games and the ability to do what I like - I also want a decent Media Player on it. Yes I have Java PS3 Media Centre, but I'd still love the XBOX Media Centre equivalent on the PS3

if you mean games, i have 40 originl copies you know why im on cfw? i want to have them all on the hard drive, i want to be able to take my ps3 to my mates with out a stack of discs (granted i dont take all 40!) i want to know my discs will never get scratched

dns trick only works for a week and i guess im going to have to starve the next month to get another ps3 even though mine has a 15 blade fane that give it the ylod every two months thanks sony for making shitty built ps3's plus taking away other os plus taking away cfw you ****s

you just run the network setup wizard again and choose automatic

my guess is the dns trick will run out LONG before we get a 3.56 cfw. not due to it being impossible (though i think its difficulty will raise the bar a lot) but more as none of the devs are working on it(seen twitter feeds posted in this thread and others "i am not working on 3.56") Sony has many of the devs running scared (that sounds like im insulting them, im bad with words...not ment as an insult I would be scared of sony) they keep taking down the resources the devs need etc and restraining orders on others (cant imagine being told i was not aloud by law to go near my ps3..thats evil )

Hey Everyone.

This is my first post on the site! I am one of those who likes to read more than I do ask a hundred questions that have been asnwered numerous times. I recently decided to hack my PS3 and was very happy about how easy it was with the tutorials. About 2 days later 3.56 came out and well that sucked. I really don't play ps3 games on my ps3 at all. I jut bought it mainly because it was to me the best media device. I felt like there were a lot of limitations on the ps3 so I thught adding some good mdeia homebrew media apps seemed awesome. I also like the ablity to do do emulators as old school games will always be awesome. Also I think the ability to play back up games (if they really are back up games). I got call of Duty Black Ops for the 360 for Christmas. Put it in at a friends house to play for the first time. He deicded to MOVE THE XBOX with the game in and spinning. I'm sure you can all guess what happend. Such freaking crap that we have to buy $60 disks that are so easily scratched and be expected to just buy anohter copy if it happens. Just looked on CL, ebay, etc at how many people are selling scratched disks.

Anyway I just think the consumer has answered on this one and maybe they should listen. I also get why Sony does what they are doing but it would be better to work together to creat a middle ground where using it to ruin there PSN by cheating and illegally playing games you don't own weren't a possibility. look at what awesome applications are being developed for the PS3 because of the homebrew...if they approached it right it's my opion they will increase sales. Hey I can dream right?


Anyways. Sorry for the rant. My real question is all I want the PSN for is netflix. I have yet to use it for anything else. I am worried about the DNS trick as I feel like one day there will be a thousand more posts on here about all teh people using it getting banned. I've got no credit card information on there or anything like that to worry about. What do you guys think should I use it while it lasts or is there a better way to get Netflix on the PS3 with CFW 3.55? I can do it through my laptop it's just much more convient with my PS3.

His reply wasn't quite true, the nand flasher was concerning downgrading, once a CFW for 3.56 happens, I'm sure you'll be able to rejoin the CFW party.

If sony charged retail prices for theredigitial copies i wouldnt need a backup manager

the desire for me was to place all my games on the hd and then play them whereever i took the ps3, the games i can buy on psn are extremely over priced (£48 for mass effect 2 ? really? nah i got mine for £35 ) the thought of being able to directly play mkv files from my cameras sd card is also a plus (havent looked into that yet but im guessing theres a xbmc like app somewhere)

when i brought my ps3 i had a linux version of xbmc installed as other os it was great then one april 1st they removed it (you know i thought it was an april fools lol really i did thought at 00:00 i would get back the 50% of my ps3) nope it was gone as too was a lot of my holiday vids (most backed up) and a large portion of my hd
