Because the point of PSGroove was so everyone who wanted to, could jailbreak their console for free. Since lots of people went out to make money off this technology, cheap units were made. Most cheap units (which are all clones) run on the ATMEGA16A chip with no bootloader and are un-upgradeable.

This program/programmer gives the ability to people who purchased these cheap units to upgrade their units for free. The way it was intended originally. All you need to do is solder 5 wires.

Disclaimer. This should only be done by those people not willing to pay 5 bucks for a new chip and already have the experience tools and parts. also I dont see the point of a payload injector when a bootloader is a better idea.

it sure is, but what hex are you going to load with the bootloader if there are no sources for it ? Unless someone experienced with AVR wants to port the sources to ATMega16A, the injection is the only way to go for the new payloads.

Help to port current sources to this chip will be greatly welcome

must agree the bootloader will make life hell of a lot eaiser

and for 5$ cant go wrong

Guys I have bought clone of ps3break.
I did it because it was only solution at my place. No other products were available,
so I needed it to buy cause I wanted to jailbreak my ps3 at least somehow.
In order this device to work I need to put in ps3 each time game disk of ps3.
It is not upgradable as it is said also on websight where I bought it.

I have seen this thread and have couple of questions:
Can someone tell me , who knows, which chip is used in this clone on the pictures attached ?
Is it possible somehow with this software on this thread to make this clone upgradable?
If yes , then please explain how?
