Honestly I can't think of any good reason to use the Vita as a controller in most games. The Vita doesn't have enough buttons to fully emulate the standard controller, and otherwise the small sticks are inferior to the full size sticks on the standard controller. I guess if you're in a pinch and need another controller? Otherwise you're better off with the standard controller.
Alternatively, someone could also go the WiiU route and use the Vita as an ancillary display. But that requires game design and programming built specifically around that. Even on multiplatform titles (i.e. things built in part for the WiiU) that's going to be a tall order.
Except, every game will already be able to be played on the vita. so theres already a solution out there, or rather every game will be able to be controlled on the vita. I agree with you because so many games use the pressure sensitive thumb sticks. but it would be a neat feature for those who dont want to have 4 ps4 controllers around day one.

On a serious note I don't think anyone would really be interested in this except for those who can't afford another controller and already have a vita, which has to be an extreme minority.
Very true. But based on what we've seen with the PS3 what devs will do in button-heavy games is to use the rear touch screen to emulate the missing buttons. Which in practice works out just as poorly as you might expect.

I see it more being used as a second screen with some controlling options.
This is old news, ps3 is already doing this let alone the ps4. Anyone see/use the Little Big Planet 2 cross controller dlc that uses the ps vita as a controller and can take advantage of the touch screen, ect in game.
