once all drm on the vita is completely removed and i don't have to rely on sonys software to use my vita then i would consider getting a second hand one but not brand new.

It seems to me that all of the game companies are getting better at security on their systems. The 3DS has yet to be hacked past playing DS-only flashcards, and the Vita is in a similar place, only hacked in PSP mode. Compared to how quickly their predecessors were compromised, Sony and Nintendo are learning.
WE NEED TO ADAPT!

All kidding aside, this may actually get me to use my Portable Youtube Machine (Vita) more often.
