The Bluray drive on the 2nd one is not working, but the console run properly.
The question is what is easier.
To swap the drives and run the remarry method.
To swap only the laser (if this is possible)
To swap pcb's (whatever this means)
actually you only needed to downgrade to 3.50 before. the fdm_spu_module.self was signed for 3.50. thats why it worked for 3.50 or below. now, thanks to someone, fdm_spu_module.self has been signed for 3.55. just remember to put the 3.30 pup on the root with the contents of dev_usb000
Pcb = printed circuit board. It's the green board on the bottom of the PS3's blu-ray drives, in this case.

That's the 'brain' of the blu-ray drive, As far as the system is concerned, everything about the drive is on the pcb. If you change lasers but keep the same pcb, then it thinks it's the same drive, no change.
If you have two drives that have different pcbs (meaning they can't physically line up to sit and plug into the drive properly), then you will have to remarry the drive to the replacement.
Order of difficulty, from lowest to highest, is pcb swap ->laser swap -> remarry.
@djbobo: Probably replying too late here, but... Is there a reason you wouldn't simply transplant the good fan into the system with the good BD drive, and avoid messing with software altogether?

im new to this remarrying stuff so i got a question:
my old ps3´s (cech-2004A) drive is kinda dead thats because i jb´ed the ps3. i got a tb dongle and the most new games need a bd-rom inside to boot correctly, so i thought about to buy a new drive. but some days ago, a m8 said, just remarry your drive of your new ps3 (cech-2504A) with your old ps3. so if i remarry the cech-2504A drive with the old ps3, is it possible to use the drive in each ps3 (old and new one)?
because if i cant use it in the new ps3 anymore, i wont do it.
and if it works in each ps3, how to do that? im on rebug 3.55.2 tb edition. i just read that remarrying is very simple with the rebug cfw.
thx for your help! greetz mike
where do you guys get the 3,30fw from ?
i'm sorry guys, how do i "run"the proces ?
Does the console need to be on OFW 3.55 of can it be on CFW 3.55 I tried the process but I got a NG across the screen and I had tried 2 different versions of software 3.15 and 2.x file I downloaded and neither worked.
Im going to try this when i get off work but would like to know the same thig. Does the console need to be on OFW 3.55 of can it be on CFW 3.55? I guess i will try OFW first nothing like truble shooting.
