How about doing some reasearch, hell - even some reading.
Having the keys that can decrypt game content doesn't magically allow you to sign your own firmware.
Let me spell it out for - if you do not have a 3.55 exploitable console you are ****ed - no matter what keys (within the realm of reality) are released.
You've said before that you're on 3.66 or some shit if that's the case you're ****ed.
Odds are when the 3.66 keys (if it happens since this scene blows ****) a dev will simply make a pkg or method to input the keys into current 3.55 CFW
The reason people wont make a 3.66 with the keys is because you need more than just the keys to allow piracy/back-ups/whatever you anti-piracy moralfags wanna call it, you need an exploit and possibly if someone is able to get the keys they may be able to make a CFW using that same exploit but that is NOT always the case.
Making a CFW involves more than just making the keys, you have to change the way the firmware works, disable security, etc and I'm sure Sony has put in back-up measures into the new firmware incase someone did just get the keys.
Is that a detailed enough description?
I agree with how you feel, I've been wanting a new CFW for awhile, and I agree with that anyone who doesn't simply doesn't get how important it is to the scene, I used to get flamed for saying the scene will die without the new keys and now...everyone says it and it's true but honestly...posting in EVERY news post about the 3.66 keys won't bring them any faster.
The sad truth in NOTHING posted on this site within the past 3 months has been news indicating that we are any closer than the keys than before except maybe the duel firmware and honestly odds are that that will only allow us to run stock 3.55 and 3.66/3.70 on one ps3 but it wont allow the backup of new games.
Basically, scene sucks, its dead we're ****ed.
We may get lucky and someone will develop something, but honestly the odds are slim.
It's back to 2d homebrew games pretty much.
My advice beat all your backups and upgrade to 3.55 sometime next year if there is no way to play new games.
If you're already on 3.66...give up buy a 3.55 ps3 or just give up on backing up games...its over move on.
People really thaught there would be dual firmware? LOL! Those rumours started because of CFW+Linux functionality, but some people got overexcited and thaught it was CFW+OFW, damn I pity them.
IT ONLY TOOK ONE DAY TO HACK THE LATEST PSP FIRMWARE, ONE DAM DAY!!!!!!
I'll break it down for you because I know you need things explained in a very dumbed down way:
Apples are not oranges. Oranges are not apples. Apples are apples and oranges are oranges. Still following?
OK, now let's just stretch that concept a bit. PSPs are not PS3. PS3s are not PSPs. PSPs are PSPs and PS3s are PS3s.
So in summation a PSP is not a PS3. Get it?
Guys, can you keep it clean? I know it get frustrating around this time when sometime soon we MAY have a new development (not necessarily 3.66CFW), and everyone gets a bit tense waiting. If you think the scene is dead, then you don't need to slam it down in everyone's face, just read the news and keep lurking. Users don't come to a site with scene news (that actually might explode with some good sutff sometime soon from my understanding) to read "Basically, scene sucks, its dead we're ****ed." Not saying your opinion is incorrect, but how well would a Apple fanboy be heard in the Windows 7 support forum?
Now to keep everyone quite; These dual nand/nor projects aren't for 3.66CFW (mainly anyway), but are being used to find downgrade exploits and to fix bricks. So if we can get 3.66 keys, + a downgrade, everyone is gonna be happy with a 3.55 console that can play 3.66 games, whether you are on 3.41, 3.55, 3.66 or 3.70 right now.
