Sorry guys... wouldn't a simple hardware mod to write protect the TrueBlue chip allow us to use a Peek&Poke enabled MFW even if the killswitch is triggered?? That way the TrueBlue won't be erased.... Just my 2 cents since i don't own a TB

EDIT: Or another option would be modify the PS3 firmware syscalls like the panic one or maybe others used by the TB to "verify" the presence of peek&poke to make it do absolutely nothing (in case of the panic) or make it return a negative answer (in case of the verification) if triggered but i don't know if that is even possible at all...

Payloads dont mean much if there is no actual way to use them in a constructive way. The DRM is just another hurdle in the way of serious progress and im sure there is people out there who are working on that. The whole point of a "scene" is that everyone works together to get to a common goal and if this is real, then the goal might be achieveable. That is all I have to say, for now...

Actually I think this new information source is legit and news worthy to be presented this week. Since it explains how this developer created a modified trueblue custom firmware so he can exploit the code he needs when the dongle is inserted into the PS3. Plus more details where this payload is at in the PS3 console when the TB dongle/Cobra USB is connected.

I just verified the other news back in November http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/...released-1664/ -- and it talks about something completely different. And a whole different payload source.

Now if you want to debate whether all this information will aide us all, it's still up for speculation, because of previous points presented by others (including myself) above.

So please guys, don't be too hasty in bashing the news writers of any forum, until you make sure your statements are solid--or as they say, don't kill the messenger. Now who looks like the one sitting in a corner of the class wearing a dunce cap? (humor/joke)

Posts like these usually makes front page news only to generate traffic on the site where it was originally posted (ps3news in this case?), while other sites just rehash the same story without much thought, even if it leaves all the members pissed off except those profiting from the ads.

However, I do believe in the long run it will drive core people away from the site, so it is a shortsighted gain.

Jay-Jay, just take a peek inside PS3Devwiki - you'll see it. We didn't say a thing about news in here back at november - the wiki is full of it. And talking about firmware you mentioned - have you actually seen a method of creating one somewhere? The one which contains peek-poke, allowing to investigate all the functions dongles brings in, without bricking them at the same time? Please, just show us where, if you care.
