i wonder if there is a connection. i know most people are smart, but some people seemed to blatantly disregard any posts on how to make it a "safer" install.
it seems to just be random, since, like i said, there are smart people who bricked. i wonder if dex or tb has affected compatibility somehow.
Never there but always going back

People should have known that though. With anything that's new (new Windows or Mac OS X, new iOS or Android version, new CFW) there will be bugs in the beginning. That's expected, in my opinion. I'm sorry for the people who bricked their systems and I hope they find a way to 'unbrick' them because I know I'd be more than crushed if my system bricked and I left all those unbeaten games on my system, stranded, lol. I'm sure most people saw "NEW CFW 4.21" and just bungee jumped right in, head first. Didn't even check the suspension cables. Is what it is.
Gonna play a little AC: Revelations later, since I just got around to playing that one

i want to have blu ray playback back, the keys are expired on 3.55 and once you put in a disk with new keys the system fkags the incompatible ones so you cannot watch any of them.

anytime you flash firmware there is a chance for a brick. whether its ofw or cfw a 600 dollar machine or a 20 dollar router. i have a cecha01 was running a cfw from iceman keamu based. and i update from the xmb no recovery just settings update via storage media. was playing borderlands 2 all day yesterday. bout to get down on some re6 and maybe some doom bfg. but word of advice if you never flashed anything before. bricking is always a possibility. no matter what.

Ha! That's funny. How do they decide who gets the brick and who's PS3 updates just fine? Is there some kind of script that does the lottery during CFW installation? ;p I'm very sorry for anyone who bricked their console. It's inevitable with breakthroughs in CFW like this one, but I wouldn't exaggerate the problem. There are thousands of people like me that succesfuly updated their consoles, and are too busy with testing (like playing 2.08 Gran Turismo 5) to actually come to the forum, and mention that everything went fine.

My CECHA01 with Rogero 4.21 has Showtime working quite nicely (Dean has an update, but I signed the EBOOT myself with the recently released tool)

1 - always take a nand backup of any device you flash (second nature when playing with android)
2 - always use recovery its safer
3 - always use a MD5 checker (A lot of bricks are from corrupted or damaged downloads)
4 - ALWAYS! ALWAYS! READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AT LEAST TWICE BEFORE STARTING ANYTHING! (have spent hours helping people who just missed a simple instruction that was crucial)
ive flashed 5 slims and 7 Phat ps3 all different models and had no issues (actually tell a lie i had a 40gb get pissy after but then its HDD failed and it was fine after a replacement)

honestly i think rogero shouldn't have rushed this cfw...4.21/4.25 cfw(whatever you call it) is a totally brand new stuff to all of us here, as 3.55cfw was only implanted in our brains until this. :P there should have been more testing of every nook and cranny in this firmware before releasing it publicly. we are all humans. so ofcourse people will try to flash this firmware the moment they see it in forums. anyways i mean no disrespect to any one. just saying out loud
