    The only reason this was possible on the PS2 and N64 emus is because the widescreen aspect ratio coding already existed in the games themselves, because they were being coded after Widescreen TVs hit the market. (It wasn't until DVD became the home video standard that 720x480 became the default NTSC aspect ratio.)

    The older game systems never had those resolutions available to them, so it doesn't exist in the game code. You would need to reprogram the whole game in order to do this.

    damn...is that why some n64 games wouldn't work when it tried to make them widescreen?

    what about psx games? some of them had a widescreen option. idk...i just thought maybe it would be possible to have it emulate more edges of the screen especially for like sonic and rpg's where the screen just seems to scroll or other games where enemies are placed in a certain spot.
