could use Atari 5200 and 7800 support as well. There's more than a few open source emulators for those out there.

Hmm Atari 2600 on RetroArch.. :chinscrat: Well maybe today is your lucky day!
Stella Atari 2600 libretro Core for RetroArch
This was compiled from the official Libretro Git.
https://github.com/libretro/stella-libretro
This is an Unofficial Compile. It is buggy and experimental.
DO NOT complain to the official RetroArch Developers of any issues. As this is an unofficial release.
The buttons vary from game to game. I have been messing with this off and on for a couple weeks now and every game behaves a bit different
Some games when you enter the menu will goto black and white but L3 will switch the color back. Some games wont do this at all... Its buggy and experimental but there is some great retro play
Saving/Loading doesn't work either,
Place this .SELF file with your other libretro cores in RetroArch.
dev_hdd0/games/SSNE1000/USRDIR/cores/
Thanks goes out to the the RetroArch Developers and to the person who compiled and shared this with all. :) (you know who you are)
Hmmm, thanks STLcards, i will definitely try it, ......do you know what version of stella this was made from, stella stopped at 3.3 rev3 years ago i think, is this higher?
good question i would suspect it would be that but i dont recall i know it shows on the RA menu when you load the core.
was ok, but last stella had bugs, like not going back to the rom choice page and just freezing if u tried, maybe choosing the rom itself from the retro section will help that, either way, long live 2600 space invaders lol.......someone should pick up the development of this....
i just had an idea that could be cool but since i'm not very technical, i could see it not being possible. anyways, adding widescreen to the emulators kind of like how people did it for ps2 games. i used to use it on an n64 emulator a while back to some success; idk if it was the emu or the games that sometimes wouldn't like it.
anyways, i think it'd make things pretty nice and i don't think it'd be too stressful on the system to make it emulate that much more of the screen.
