To try different environment in Linux (Windowmaker)---stop loading in kloader booting process by pressing any button, then save configuration to memory card.
In Ulaunchelf open in text editor file mc0:/kloader/config.txt and add in line "Kernel Parameter" such line and save it ----LOGINSCRIPT=win2 .....

Next time you start LiveDVD---it defaults to Windowmaker....

Can somebody tell me how to boot from DVD please? I have FMCB, no modchip. I run ulaunchElf, then I go to filebrowser -> cdfs:/ from there I would like to launch kloader but I can't see the contents of the DVD.

My lens is not broken and I have downloaded the correct image (PAL small), I am not an idiot .

Is this the way I should boot it from DVD or am I missing something? Internal HDD works fine but I also would like to use linux on my slim PS2.

Just a question not a thought.....
Maybe? I doubt anyone knows for sure, since there's absolutely no reason to even try it. If you want linux on your ps3, just install it through the ps3. Why would you want to limit yourself to the ps2 hardware, if you're going to run it on a ps3, which can already run linux itself?

I think a lot of people think this is a PS3 release, not sure why.

    PS2 RELEASE, NOT PS3

If I load this like a game ISO via hdl_dumx, can I run it independent of the HDD?
Will is try to reformat my HDD and ruin all my other data/formatting? Or can I run it like a Game or a "Live CD"?

If I could run this one session at a time, that would be great.

It can't be installed as an ISO, but a game partition can be formatted as ext2. Then you can copy the content to this partition. I don't have a tutorial for this.

I'll see what I can do with uLaunchELF's utility. I don't really have the resources to manipulate the drive directly unless I go through the trouble of decommissioning my PC for the project.

I'm worried Linux will decide to mess with my HDD. So I'll probably use my old "Official" HDD for that.

Can you access HDDs manually in PS2 Linux? I've been wondering what would happen if I used a PATA ribbon cable and hooked up tow drives with proper jumper settings, but none of the file browsing homebrew I've seen even allow for HD1 access, just HD0.

I'll probably get a dedicated Memory Card too.

Is it possible to run this linux from a usb drive?
And is it possible to use a wireless usb for internet access and install the driver somewhere?
