The author mentions IRC channels. Does anyone know of some that have good conversations?

Oh, about the GUI. I'm a little confused. Has the author incorporated the code for the tools into his application or does it basically act as a front-end?

Both. I have incorperated a few programs to GUI and some cmd tools are front end.
