Go Devs!!
coooooooooooooool![]()
i want to correct a little thing here:
he decrypted the Core_OS SELF, not a ELF.
ELFs are already decrypted.
I don't understand all the hype around this, really.
Lets just hope those keys are out there because someone found a way to get the keys from the PS3.
If we're stuck on 3.60 again, what kind of advancement is this ?
Makes no sens to jubilate around this.
From 3.55 to 3.60, really ? o_O
Most likely those keys were found a long time ago but were never released by fear of Sony's reaction.
So we're able to play 20 more games and our CFW has 60 instead of 55 at the end, talk about improvement ....
Call me a whining bitch or whatever you want, truth deserves to be said.
CS67700: If you discount the dongles, the PS3 scene has pretty much been at stand still for a year. You've had a few homebrew releases etc., but there havnt really been much advancement regarding the PS3 hacking itself. Now that the 3.60 keys are out, there is a small advancement happening, so i guess people are really happy about that, and hoping that this advancement will lead to further advancements.
---------------------
About being able to decrypt the 3.60 Core_OS files, what are the chances that this could lead to CFW? I dont want to sound rude or disrespectful, but decrypting the Core_OS files in itself isnt that much of an advancement if you have the proper decryption keys? I'm curious if it is possible to take parts out of later firmwares and pack/sign it with the 3.55 private keys.
If you have the 3.60 decryption keys, isn't it possible to decrypt 3.60 and repack all of it with 3.55 encryption keys ?
Would be a 3.60, but just with different keys.
Isn't that what TB is kinda doing ?
i believe having 3.60CFW would be actually huge step forward in completely cracking PS3, because in 3.60+ to fix vulnerability Geohot used Sony removed all intermediate loaders, which means having 3.60CFW opens up whole new bunch of possibilities to getting per console key of the first loader in the chain of trust or completely few PS3 hardware from any protections. that's at least my understanding, which could be totally wrong though.
