But more like the ones showed in that Japanese anime called Sword Art Online. Althoung I believe we are far from the actual glasses shown in Sword Art Online. But I believe the consoles are moving in that direction.
And, when you turn the game on you see yourself in that games world. In the anime when the characters put the glasses they show up in this realistic MMORPG.
Imagine that you put this glasses and you are able to play using only your mind. It's a rather interesting way of playing.
I think this is rather advanced for our time. But, I believe the console are going in that direction. Most likely we'll be seeing a simplified version of this in a not so far future.
Well I doubt we will see huge graphic quality increase like the jump from ps1 > ps2 > ps3. Every generation seems to be getting a smaller graphic bump than before.
However, the fact the PS4 is easier to develop for and has a much larger amount of RAM alone makes it worth a buy.
You saw what they could do with only 512MB of RAM on ps3. It's only going to be better with 8GB. I expect a lot more fluid/seamless OS and multitasking on PS4.
Only gaikai games need to be streamed (which you will only really need for backwards compatibility). PS4 games are played on disc, and PSN games can be played while they are still downloading. Meaning you can probably get the first 20% of the download and start playing while the rest finishes, instead of waiting to 100% downloaded before being able to start the game. That's not the same thing as streaming a game, so people shouldn't confuse that. It's just a way to play the game sooner. It still downloads the whole game to the system.
I honestly expect some good games to be on the system just because it uses the x86 platform, which has been used on PC since forever. That means developers already know how to develop for it and don't have to do a lot of learning just to get an impressive game to run on it.
I'm glad they didn't do anything too drastic with the PS4 controller. After seeing that boomerang design in the early PS3 days I am really scared they could screw the controller up with a completely new design.
In general it looks like a very solid gaming system and I'll be buying a launch model because we all know future models are harder to hack, and usually have gimped hardware.
I especially like the streaming function. I could see myself pressing a button and letting my PSN friends spectate me on a big boss battle or something. It could bring a more social feeling to singleplayer games and take turns playing between yourself and your buddies even if you're not at the same house. Think playing final fantasy and sharing the experience with your friends, and taking turns back and forth while you go through the story, or just relax and talk with them while they play it. That actually seems pretty neat when you think about it.
I also like how multiple players on a single system can have their PSN account tagged to individual remotes so nobody misses out on trophies and you can carry your game progress from one console to another just by using the same controller (think going to a friends house).
The post is getting long so I'll stop here, but to make it short a lot of the things they talked about in the announcement seem very interesting and I'll definitely buy one.
Was just thinking with the PC architecture, how do they expect this thing NOT to get hacked, it's just asking for it isn't it? I can picture the sinister grins on some of the hackers faces already Muahahahaha!!!!!!
@krytonic I totally agree with you it's a completely different market but you have to take consideration of what I said. "The principle" Sony should be building a stronger gaming lineup for the Vita instead of doing "money see monkey do" just because Microsoft/Nintendo are launching newer gen consoles.
The Ps3 haves alot of potential and hell if Sony want to do things why not do things better with the ps3. Such as better web browser with flash implementation or some additional apps. Why should I invest money into a console that wont even have decent games until the next 2 years from now. Good games started to kick off in 2008 with AC2/GT4 (even though GT4 was horrible) the point is... it's like why put focus into a newer console when there is nothing wrong with the current console.
Idk I wont be buying it. Just like the vita until I see a good selection of quality games that's when I will buy the Ps4. I just hope that Sony will stick to their word and still produce Ps3 games in the next 4 years since they did say that the ps3 will have a 10 year life span of production. Since the Ps4 will drop late 2013/early 2014 current ps3 prices will drop!
Added complete Press conference in article for anyone who missed it.
NO MORE SONY BASTARDS!
I HATE SONY!
I am to retire from the consoles scene, I got pissed off with their bans etc.
Is it just me or does the DS4 controller look like it will be backwards compatible with the ps3? I mean with that Kinect looking sensor thing wouldn't it be easy for sony to plug it into a ps3 and do a firmware update, then they will profit from sales on it for ps3 owners not ready to jump board to the new system
