If you have RSOD.. you can still access your recovery menu.. from there you can flash an update.. I tried to fix mine with the E3 flasher.. (i made some mistakes)that should work.. but the only thing is.. you cant make a backup..!

Go into the recover menu (hold power on until the ps3 turns on and off again then hold it again until you hear two beeps - let the power button go and it boots the recovery menu)

Goto system update from the menu with the norsod.pup located on a flash drive (on the root of the flash drive create a folder called ps3 and in that folder create a folder called update then rename norsod to ps3updat.pup and place it in the update folder so it looks like root- ps3- update - ps3updat.pup)

Next run the update and as long as your firmware is 3.55 or below it should run, if you have 3.56 then its a no go unfortunately. If like me you downgraded to 3.41 (that shows as 3.56) then you need to downgrade to actual 3.41 or 3.15 or the updater will think your on a higher revision of firmware than the norsod update

Once the pup is loaded you can boot into the normal xmb, run the pkg installer and then run the app it installs - the ps3 will beep and go back to the menu. You can then installe 3.55 Kmeaw or whatever you wish

Hope that helps It worked a treat for me and I must say I am a rather happy man after having the rsod for over a year on one of my consoles

Just remember that if you still get an RSOD after you have done this then your issue is hardware related.

I try going into recovery and the console just turns off when the menu should appear. I think if you can get into recovery you might have a chance but otherwise you're farked. Anyone had any success with E3 or Progskeet?
