nice find.....can't wait til the vita has some sort of cfw.
With all the Debug madness going around, this seems promising for future research. Love the Core Dump feature..lol

ok great i could of guessed there was a vita debug firmware, but this looks like its at some sort of convention??, so its useless unless we have the firmware or even if we had it would need to be hacked so no key is required or some sort of time trick? would not be getting my hope's up about this.

Yeah, it is filmed at Gamescom (for those who dont know Gamescom, it is basically the european version of E3). They simply just took one of the demo Vita units that are there to show off Vita games and exited the game, and went to the setup menu on the Vita.
And yes, you need to hack the Vita first if you want to install debug firmware on a retail unit. Having the debug firmware alone is pretty useless. We had debug firmware for PS3 for years, but it was just until recently that someone managed to hack the PS3 (doing CEX to DEX) that allowed debug firmware to be installed on a retail PS3.
yeah great!
ok thanks for confirming what i said was right, but front news page?? cmon did everyone know that The walking dead has been patch to work on 3.40+
edit: its just a demo![]()
sony are not stupid are they? they are covering their tracks, they don't want the vita to be like the psp, but all this ridiculous DRM is hurting their sales in the long run, even if all vitas had this debug firmware on it, after a certain time your hardware will be rendered useless, i don't think hackers would be able to get around that even if they think they can.the firmware does come with a rather interesting security feature. Every 90 days you are required to enter a new activation key and failing to do so would render your PS Vita useless as it will refuse to boot.
I think that it is news worthy because it gives some insight on what Vita debug units can do. Even if it cant be used for hacking directly, i still find it interesting
This DRM is for debug units only, it has nothing to do with sales or consumers. These debug units are only for bigger developers, and renewing the license after 90 days is no problem for them. If someone find a way to run debug firmware on retail Vita, i think there is a fair chance that they find out how to disable or bypass the renewal stuff.
skfu already said they could get around that crap.....but yeah wants a devkit.
wonder what will come of that...
