Won't buy when it first comes out, but I'll wait. I like Coop games the PS3 had and control pads which is why I got the PS3 instead of upgrading my PC at the time. Also I'd like to see what steam console mite offer.
No second hand games, mostly as they'll probably be downloaded.
I wouldn't speculate much right away rather a few pointers:
There was a time I thought we would possibly never get past 3.55. For eg, how long did it take for us to play Arkham City & Max Payne 3 without Trueblue on backups. Just the 3.60 keys came out and in months we are sitting at a 4.30 OFW ripped CFW and already eyeing on GOW Ascension & The Last of Us.
As always, every security has a loop-hole and nothing is unbreakable. May be will take some time, but as the saying, ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WAIT.
I'm sure Orbis won't be backward compatible for we all know Sony. Sometime in 2015-2016 we would sure see a title "God of War III 4K HD Remastered" & "Uncharted Triology 4K HD Remastered". Anyways its most likely to take time for studios to come up with titles for the next gen consoles. Say if it takes 4-5 years for the scene to catch up. Then I'd queue all my backups. At the max we would be half a generation back. Not a big trade off for Freedom. Until then I'd hug my PS3 Slim tight.
After the PS3 I don't think I will buy a closed system. What I mean is I will wait till Orbis has matured game wise and when it's jailbroken. The PS3 is everything I need right now. I have got what I wanted. Only thing that scares me is if my slim had to die on me. :-pray: it doesn't.
I wont be buying it. Ps3 is a good console and that will satisfy all my gaming needs for the moment. Just like the psp satisfy all my hand-held needs at the moment. The price and the price of games will be the reason why I won't buy the orbis. Besides I get free games on my Jailbroken ps3 so I don't have to spend a dime on video games atm. "Excluding games that I buy for online reasons" But my point is this.

I am in a little beyond the middle of Farcry 3 (I have 11 main missions left) and have clocked over 60 hours so far.
Trying to complete a game with all side missions and different little "quests" is a whole lot different than just running through the main story line.
To each his own though. ;)
As far as the OP is concerned:
I will be more than happy to keep my PS3's for an extended amount of time.
Up until I moved to another house last year, I still used my original xbox quite regularly.
I have a feeling that once the next gen console is opened up I will probably break down and relegate one of (or both) PS3's to the duties that the xbox is being used for.
Even if I stop using them as gaming consoles, they will still be used as media centers for a long time.
So they "seized" production of the ps2 huh..? Please cease the killing of the language...
