    Ugh...what else could have happened? It's just two corporations having a dick measuring contest, throwing some money around to let their stockholders know that they take their patents seriously, then settling out of court/dropping their cases before the judge can officially come to the conclusion that both parties are ****ing retarded and are wasting the court's time.

    And it sounds like neither one of them had the patent they were claiming was being infringed upon, that both of the patents had actually expired threes years earlier (if I am reading this right).

    Well if those seized consoles are now released to the public of Netherlands that means more consoles for them to jailbreak been on a much lower firmware.

    I think they were released after being held for about a week, it not sooner, atleast that is what my memory is trying to tell me

    The patent hadn't expired yet, the agreement between the two companies did. If I remember correctly, when a patent expires it can't just 'be renewed', that's for copyrights and trademarks.
