what I'm mostly intersted about is how ripping and converting will work.
will the ode's have interchangeable iso's ? decent convert methods will be needed, both (other ode) iso to your ode product or most important, currrent decrypted backups to compatible iso's.

I fail to see this as a problem, then again I'm not much in the market to leave my Computer on for days at a time to download a 50Gb *.ISO. So assuming your just ripping a BlueRay Disc Game I don't see much reason why these *.ISOs would have to be compatible amongst themselves.
Good thing for you is... There is no reason why they shouldn't be. Even assuming the worst. We could expect to have Converters in do course to remedy such a nuisances.
IMHO the ODE that can somehow get the really good Homebrew to work though it e.g. Showtime Media Player. Will be the One to win the Game...
