@ThatOtherPerson - I appreciate the number of releases you've been doing for the PS3. Some of them I've liked, but some I've just said WTH? I was wondering if you planned on continuing and improving any specific project. There's potential in some of your releases to turn out to be real time killers with a little more polish and level design but I get the feeling that you may have PS3-ADD meaning it seems like your basically just having a fire sale - everything must go kind of thing
I won't be keeping up this pace of new releases. Hero City is actually the last of the 3D Wii games that I'm going to be porting over for the time being. Next I'm going to be making some very small updates to my older stuff and once I'm done with that I'll post the source code for everything. Then I'm going to take a break from PS3 (I want to work on Wii stuff for a little while).
Once I'm done with what I want to do on Wii there are several PS3 games that I do intend to continue updating in a meaningful way. But many that I don't.
Swingball 2 will definitely be getting updates.
My interest in working on The Unmapped Forest is very dependent on whether or not I can find someone to make original graphics for it that I'm happy with (I don't want to draw them myself). I'll probably be sending emails to a few people sometime soon to see if any of them are interested in working on it (which I've been meaning to do for a while now).
I like They Do Not Die 2 (though I think it controls better on Wii) and would like to continue working on it but I'm still somewhat undecided about what to do with it. I think it's more or less functional as a game now and I suspect what most other people think it should become differs significantly from what I want it to be.
I plan to continue working on Gambol. I'm actually really looking forward to making the models for it. It's been a while since I've made any original 3D models.
I might try to add split screen multiplayer to Cherophobe. But I consider that game done and I don't see any need to change or add anything to the way the single player side of it works.
The other things I've released for PS3 likely won't be getting any more significant attention from me. The older stuff is all either done (Goodbye World, Maze Generator, Cascade Beneath, Don't Get Crushed, We Are Nowhere) or has failed to keep my interest (Slime Roll, Sketch Fight). The 3D Wii stuff I've been porting recently is often plagued by performance problems (I don't know if it is an inherent flaw in the way PSL1GHT works, specific to the older build I'm using or something I'm doing wrong but rendering is incredibly slow) and graphical problems (I assume there must be a way to fix this but the textures for example aren't perspective correct in any of the 3D games I've done on PS3 with PSL1GHT) and I'm not particularly interested in spending time adding new features to something like Winter's End if I can't get it to run above 15 frames per second.
On a related note I consider Cylinder Dodge done. I'm sorry for anyone that finds it unsettling but I like the white on black graphics. It's actually the only one of the recent ports that looks exactly the way I want it. The source code will be available soon though so anyone will be able to make changes and recompile it if they like.
I for one will be sad to see you go ( ThatOtherPerson) , i have played and enjoyed just about all of your ps3 releases, Good luck with your other ventures!
oh, TOP, you are the best PS3 developer! (sorry, dean...)
That's cool O_O
I'd like to know how You make these games![]()
Thanks for all your hard work ThatOtherPerson.
